Testors '48 Ford Coupe Cut floor from firewall to back seat area. Chopped top. Replaced back window with AMT Forty Ford split window. Reinstalled rain gutters. Opened trunk. Moulded fenders. Rounded wheel wells. That is all . . . Carry on . . .
Does anybody know what kit this started as. I got it in a junkyard lot I bought on ebay and kinda pieced it back together. It was made with ala cart style front end and fins on quarters. Somebody has shortened it at some point. Looks like it based on a 40 ford Sent from my SM-G975U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
The front end and the tail fins are black molded plastic. But the rear has been closed off. Its definately different. Sent from my SM-G975U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I thought that grill looked like something that I have seen before....I have one, was that peice originally a custom grill from a kit...the peice that I have has clear plastic on one side so I always thought it was a custom headlight insert for a larger scale kit. I just have the one...thats a cool find ...I think old builds are cool even if they are somewhat funky sometimes. Sent from my SM-T387V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Yea the grille is styled like the ala cart 29 ford roadster pickup amt kit I also have a couple of them that I am gonna restore one Is gonna be like the original kit and the other one fenderless. I've been away from models for a long time and just now getting back into them. Been buying a lot of old kits on ebay Sent from my SM-G975U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Ok...I thought that when I first found it but I remembered the original Ala Kart having a square mech grill, the real truck, and now that I have seen a picture of a model kit online I see that it is.....I guess they can't be exactly the same....thanks for the info...now I know what some of the other parts that I have in my boxes of parts go too. Here's some shots of the real truck for reference if needed. Sent from my SM-T387V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I did some scratching around on backside and what I thought was moulded black plastic was paint or primer. That means that somebody chopped up amd customized this which makes it so much kooler. Sent from my SM-G975U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
It definitely started out as a 40 ford tudor sedan, going by the beltline trim peice and the location of the trunk lid handle, as seen in that photo of the bottom side. If it were a sedan delivery the beltline trim would stay level and go around the back . And of course its been shortened and had the top removed, along with many other things...I had a top for one but I just used it on another project. Looking forward to seeing some of your work. I like chopping them up and building them out of parts from several different kits....if you were to turn that 40 into a half cab sort of pu thing...I have a roof section... My problem is I cut them up and start making modifications then I will start another one from a idea that usually comes to me while asleep then it gets put away and sometimes I don't get back to them for a few years... The body that I posted actually started out as a junker 36 ford roadster a couple of years ago. Sent from my SM-T387V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I've got a 40 sedan delivery project and a lindburg 40 coupe that I haven't started yet but I really love the 40 sedan kit. I definately have to get one. Sent from my SM-G975U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Here is a 40 sedan I made into a p/u,it was a junker that got thrown in the trash a couple times only to be brought back out and eventually finished
I want that 40 sedan pick up, that is the coolest looking car Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Wow......41 ...them last two look great , but that red Pontiac is the one that put a bump in my jeans...I had a 62 Bonneville 2dr ht with a 421 when I was in high school. I have the low rider 62 Catalina kit that I started a while back. Seeing yours has got me to want to finish it....Thanks Sent from my SM-T387V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Unbuilt kit I bought on with a lot of missing and broken parts. I made the best of it with what I had Sent from my SM-G975U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
That cool Phil.. I have a couple of the small scale Eldon Pontiac's, the orange one and the yellow t-bird have never been run on a track. I have several track sets and cars...plan is , someday, to combine them all into one large layout that has a pike's peak sort of set up that drops down into a valley with a long sloping straight stretch that leads into a portion of a high banked tri-oval then back up into the mountains. Its in line with all of the other some day projects. Sorry for being a little ot..actually the 32 and the 55 where model kits to start with. Sent from my SM-T387V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
