well hello everybody. its sunday, and that means MODELS!...or so i have heard. i am a first timer on the H.A.M.B, but so far i am digging everyones projects. my father is a HUGE car enthusiast and turned me on to this message board. he has built model cars when he was young. when he got older he moved to the real thing. he had a box load of models that he had put together. unfortunately a lot of them were broken or missing pieces. i grabbed what i liked and thought i could piece together. i have been messing about with models for a very short amount of time. in fact i just started actually building them this past couple of days. i did however, build a few when i was younger, like 10-15 yrs ago. im 25 now...you can do the math. those models somehow disappeared. i would really like to find them, just to see how bad they were, but for now i will stick with building new ones and piecing together my fathers. they were i believe a 1964 chevy impala convertible, 1966 olds 442 w30 and 1986 chevy monte carlo ss. i hope i find them. a little more than a year ago i decided to start building again. then went on hiatus, because of some "life issues". now im back to building. anyways i just wanted to introduce myself. i will be posting images of my builds.

 

I took a fifty year break from building models..... Then, while slowly getting my new shop up and running so I could work on my full scale projects, I went back to the little ones for a while. Got three almost done and two others underway then I relinquished my hobby room so the wife could have an office for her business. Still haven't got back to finish 'em and now the big cars get all my free time.
The Olds is reminiscent of a car from my high school (minus the Hilborns) and the sedan is what I wished my real Model A sedan coulda been.

 

so, this will be my first build. ive always loves '41 willys. they are made into some amazing rides. i plan on making a straight axle for the front and turning this street rod into a gasser. customize it up a bit with a different grille and different wheels.

 

so i have a few questions for all of you long-time builders. im just looking for tips on how to build these as realistic as possible, on a budget. what are good fabrics to use for interiors, how to add plug wires, how to re-chrome pieces, etc. which paint is best to use, enamel, acrylic. is there a website i can check out for these tips? anything would help.

TRaK is basically the scale version of the HAMB. Traditional stuff only and the year cutoff is 69.

...so the '30 coupe project is pretty much done for now (still thinking about adding a hood, but other things have taken priority). I'm glad I got it finished before Revell releases its 1/25 '30 coupe kit!

 

Here is a 40 coupe I am working on,it was incomplete so I had to scrounge for some parts. It has the Olds motor from sedan kit and I think that were the custom bumpers came from too,the three carbs came from the 50 Olds kit.

Never posted to this thread before. Just ran across some pics of some models I built in the 60's and 70's when I was a kid.

 

Scratch built soldered coat hangers, balsa,and HO slot car wheels.

 

Gotta love the wheelstanders.

 

Here my Race of Gentleman inspired '13 Ford Model T. Intake manifold from a '29 Model A Pickup with Stromberg's from Model Car Garage

 

Here my '29 Model A Roadster. Wheels and tires from American Racing Miniatures, '34 Ford dashboard, scratch build turnsignal switch, Banjo wheel and '32 grill from Modle Car Garage. The master brake cylinder is from Replicas Miniatures of Maryland.

Built this concept of my 56 Chevy mild custom a few years back. Used a Revell 55 Chevy convertible and a Revell 56 Nomad to make this.
