wojojo, that 37 is cool. Where did you find the kitten? She has that look, like get some paint on this thing. lol I was digging in a box of my old models this week. And I found a vette, that I built in 1972. It was very dirty and is missing some parts. But I think that I will try rebuilding it. If I had thought about it, I would have taken a photo, before I washed, and disassembled it. So lets see some models today. And thanks Ron...
My progress from this week; final assembly of a long-time project, a gold-colored '58 Impala. The exterior is generic auto parts -store gold touch-up paint, the interior -surfaces are OEM 58 Chevy "Anniversary Gold". The casting of the horn-ring is somewhat "heavy-handed" out of the box, so I substituted some 0.52mm metal wire for that. I also bent some paint-dividers for the 2-tone steering rim at this time. A feature I think is a "must" on any vehicle of this vintage. This kit has a most intricate rear suspension that takes some time to put together properly. I've found it best to use slow-curing plastic cement as opposed to super-glue. This allows for time to align everything properly. I used a "riser"-block in between the upper control-arm and the pinion housing for a raised rear-suspension -stance. After that, the body was glued and secured to the chassis pan by the rocker panels, and the rest of the Bare-metal foil trimmed on.
That's funny! The motor is just laying there. But it had zoomies with a hood. NOT GOOD. lol Sauli great detail on your 58 Impala, and thanks for sharing! Ron...
Thanks Ron. The 37 is a WIP that I may finish someday. The kitten is a G scale Preiser figure from a set of 3 I picked up at a model train store about 10 years ago. I was wondering about the engine myself until I saw the transmision in the 2nd shot.
Under construction. I 'm putting together a model of my A coupe that I just got finished. I was lucky enough to find a "Fire Dome Eight" hemi in my junk parts box like the one in my coupe. Haven't worked on a plastic model for several years. Its been a lot of fun digging for parts and making parts. It started out to be a rough replica but I keep trying to make it more and more detailed.
Wow, I remember building it, too! Has it been that long?!?!? Sent from my SM-S902L using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
That doddle bug is way cool. I need to build one of them. Last week I dug a box of my old models, out of the attic. I'm going to try to put some of them back together. I would like to keep them, as close to the way they were back then. Should be fun. My first one is this old Gasser . I found everything but the bumpers and grill. Ron...
I did change the Hemi to a Chevy. I built it 45 years ago. Remember the old Roth Kandy Root Beer paint. And the big fat slicks.
Also one of the things I did back then, was to make traction bars out of valve covers. I painted them yellow, and added stoppers and Mister casket decals to them. lol
Its new home will be on my Grandson's slot car layout. I may try,and do another one this week. Ron...
Ron, As mentioned before, your grandson is one lucky kid... Very cool stuff you have done for him. When he is 30 and looking back at family stuff, he will have a tear in his eye for all of the stuff you guys have done for him. Great work and keep it up... What a great collection of stuff. Junji
{ jnaki } Thanks for the kind words. But in truth I have always been a kid at heart. I'm sure they will out grow me some day. lol I also have a new 3 month old grandson now too. But I have always loved Hot Rods and toys. Having to much fun to ever grow up. I dug these three 32 roadsters out of my old models box. Hope to save two or maybe all three. Ron...
I haven't posted on here in ages! Here's a pic of the last 3 models I finished. The blue mustang was finished today
I was prepping these to post on Instagram so thought I’d drop them here too. I never showed the finished product and I think the photos were all lost when the HAMB switched to this server. Some time I’ll create and share the progression album as this was initially built as a tutorial. Never used as such though. Okay, Not completely finished... I guess I forgot the door handle. LOL! Begin with a firm foundation Duke of Oil I forgot to add rear shock too, LOL!!!
