Here's my version of the same kit. Built this about ten year ago, after a mate gave me it, as a stock kit. He said he didn't want it, because it couldn't be made into a Hot Rod. I think I proved him wrong.
I really enjoy this thread each Sunday.{ NHRANUT} That's a sweet Pontiac ! QUICK85 nice job on the Mustang too.{ jigger, 61falconwagon, and Kiwieff } I love the patina, rust and detail in your models! Also great work, everyone else too! You guys have lots of talent, and more PATIENCE than I do. I'm trying to restore some of my old models. And keep them the way they were. Thanks Ron...
Didn't get much done this week. Did eyeball this Henry J some Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
You've got to dig the line-up of Deuces. I wish I had some of my old models to work with. You'd think I'd have kept one of the five "AMT 3 in 1" 1959 Ford convertibles I built (and played with). Like you, I dig seeing what others have built or are working on. Thank's for the comment on my Mustang. Mitch.
Those boats! Insert wolf whistle here _________________ . Getting the '29 Ford closed cab on '34 chassis back on the bench. Stripping down a parts stash radiator for it (pink styrene !) . A Facebook group "Model cars and trucks, has a member building one just like mine. I've forward him all my photos the 1:1 owner PM me as well as a walkaround video. Hoping to display them side by side at the Maryland Mid-Atlantic NNL.
My work from this week.. Another one of my AMT '58 Impala's. The one on the forefront; finished in Dupont -brand '58 Chevy Silver Blue. All factory-blue '58 Chevies share the same Fathom-Blue exterior-color for the inside metal-surfaces. Same as the darkest-blue bodyshell on the top photo. The vinyl areas and carpet are Chevy Nassau blue. The tri-tones on the "cloth"-inserts I masked and brushed on w/enamels. 3"wide in 1:1, in the realm of 1:25=3mm in scale). Again, the horn ring bent out of 0.52mm metal wire. The wheels&tires are the optional supremes&pinner whites out of the AMT '60 Ford Starliner. Obviously "unilugs" -Since the aforementioned '58 "Chevy Silver Blue" reappears in Buick's 1972 selection under the name "Crystal Blue", I added a pinstripe decal "The Jewel" on the trunklid off an old, unidentified spare decal sheet I had. Does anyone on here know what kit it originally came with?
Another awesome week! Keep them coming. quick85- that's an amazing finish on that Mustang! All I have are some 'so fars'. Chan T is makin headway
It's as finished as it's going to be. I'm not half as skilled of a model builder as you guys are but here is my 31 A coupe.
Thanks very much, I wish I could take credit for it. A painter at the Lincoln dealer I worked for did it in a factory color, and that was about twenty years ago.
Wanted to share how I made the "Guide" headlight buckets on model A model . If any of you more mature member remember the "Shoot in Shells" from Mattel toy guns from back in the 50's. I made a mold of the bullet from modeling clay an filled it with J-B Weld. Used some headlight lenses from a 57 Ford kit.
Back to the bench after what seems like forever. Pleasant evening wiring a Y block. Converting Revell's gasser wagon to a Junior Stocker.
I totally second this at this time, wow.., Jigger, RC57, Falconwagon61, I really enjoyed seeing Your "heaps", what a change of pace it is, as opposed to trying to create the smoothest clearcoat or the most razor-straight trim. -Not that it's any less involved-. LOL. By all means, Keep up the good work!
Alright, I finally worked my way through this whole thread. I figured that I should at least read all 74 pages before I post my feeble efforts. It's not Sunday, and I am not a modeler, by anyone's definition...haven't even thought about models for the last 40 years or so. This project is a built up Big T kit from back in the day. It was a present from a friend of mine. Looks like it was a decent build, but appears to have fallen off the shelf and sustained quite a bit of damage. Had quite the layer of barn-find patina on it before I cleaned it a little. I was planning on restoring it to as new, but I am starting to dig the barn find look that it has, so I think I'm just going to roll with that. I think I have all of the bits that fell off of it, except for one front shock and shock mount. With a few copies of some instruction pages, courtesy of @kiwijeff I think I can get it back on the road.
