This one I built in the mid-'70s, based on the AMT '57 Chevy with an MPC Super Stockers chassis - a fellow builder on the Model Cars Magazine board wants to do a tribute replica:
Still in the deep freeze here so hanging around the house more than normal. Found a few old Pinewood Derby cars I picked up at a thrift shop and gave them a little restoration so now they can have a spot on one of the toy shelves. Saw a picture of the Mullholland Speedster in Street Rodder and started cutting out pieces to maybe make wooden version to add to a growing collection of wood model cars I now seem to be collecting.
Hello, Having received this different model 1956 Ford F 100 last week, I can’t wait to get started. I think I can make it a custom truck from the 50s and 60s. Since it is a 1/64 size model, most parts from other 1/64 models in the drawer will fit, as far as wheels and tires are concerned. It is the body work that will be a little tricky. All of the parts that fit, usually take a press fit to secure it. The only item that may need some sort of glue is the finished, whole chassis for a rolling 1/64 model. When I used to make 1/24 plastic models, I never actually glued them to finish. I used to take the parts of one and put them on the other as a customizer would do back in those days. Some of them looked good, others looked awful. The ones with motors got custom wax rod headers that fit. But, they were put away to create on another rainy day. So, with all of these little 1/64 cars, the interchangeability of parts is wonderful. The other custom 1/64 hot rods and custom cars will be pushed down the construction list for now. Jnaki I was once given a huge, plastic engine kit that I put together without glue to a certain point. Then I tore it down to start all over again. It moved as the crank was turned. It was educational. I gave it to my neighbor and he put it all together with glue and displayed it on his desk. In those old days, my models lived to be a part of another build on a different day.
Happy New Year fellow HAMB modelers.Thought I show my year in review of what I finished in '17,hope to get more done in '18 And an updated version of my diner diorama, car shows and cruise-ins welcome. Hope everyone has a productive 2018 and thanks for looking.
I got a bunch of projects started but nothing finished this year. Hoping I can finish some things in 2018 !!! Happy New Year !!!
Here's my only completion for 2017. It received the Klingon Kruiser Award as the most "out of this world" entry at a prestigious contest in Salt Lake City. It's a 1/25 AMT 1960 Ford Starliner combined with the bubble top and interior from the Roth Beatnik Bandit Revell kit. It started as an entry, below, for an informal HAMB model contest in 2011 but it was only a shell with cobbled-together supports underneath for the wheels.
I took that road test in '61, bought a red '61 Starliner, 390 stick. (3 on the tree) I had just run out of time on building model cars, so gave the '32 roadster kit to my pal's little brother! It was O.K., later when I married my Super wife, I 'collected' more models than I ever had in my life! I have a few of the Ford Dealer Promos...heck, I'm building one of the three '25 T's as we speak... Love this column, didn't know so many HAMB bros were still building!!!
After about a year and a half this 36 is done, paint messed up two times and had so much paint on it that it took about a year of soaking to loosen it up. 40 bumpers and the optional Pontiac motor,I have 4 more that I need to finish before starting any more.
Here's my 1/24th scale garage. It's been a project I'm slowly working on. Sent from my SM-T713 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thanks. It looks better than my actual shop. It has more room in it. Sent from my XT1585 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Great looking garage cam, diggin' all the detail inside and after doing a large diorama myself I can attest that they are never done, always something to add to it.
Hard to tell what scale it is but I'm going to take a stab at either 1/64th or 1/32nd ?,either one I like it
