Saturday was all day swap meet. Sunday I made some hangers to jack the rear of the Stude up a couple inches and started hacking the quarters for radius wheel wells.
then I drug the '36 suspension out, bolted the freshly painted and mounted rims on, layed the A frame on it and set my swap meet jewel on top to see how it all lines up. kinda tall but I can fix that
Got the Fly back in order. That was a huge relief. Cleaned up a little.....moved cars around. Man what did I do?
I finally got my 5 lug front end on. As usual a 1 hour job took 10 but it was worth it. Pics won't be for awhile but now the 63 rolls 4 chrome smoothies with bullet caps and skinny whites..took long enough. My mom came out from New Mexico today (the one by texas, not the one south of northern california ) and today was the first time she ever rode in my car. I never thought she'd be so stoked to ride in a noisy, rattley, bouncy car with a lack of headroom like the nova, but it was fun puttin around town with her.
spent saturday wandering around salvages, found some door strikers $5. wished i had a wiring harness so i could get car on the road. started it up and let it run for awhile .sounds like a out of tune harley.oh ya i bought a cutting torch
The 38 belongs to a friend. He's keepin the baby moons but he's gonna turn the white letters in. We started with one fugly truck and it's starting to look good. When he bought it last summer it was **** brown, the ass end sat way up in the air with the fenders mounted low on the bed. The running boards were level with the ground but the body had one hell of a rake. It looked really bad. We put a new bed on and the fenders now go where they are supposed to. Chopped the headlight stands to move the headlights down. Other than that we just straightened a lot and got it lookin good. Clark
We tore down my old garage. My dad and sis, and a few others came by and turned a week long ordeal into a one day thrash! Makin room for the new shop. Man I've been waiting all my life for this! I'm beat, we worked our asses off. But I'm happy!
I learned that it is absolutely impossible to find 7mm solid core plug wire on sunday. Tried out the rattlecan/hammerite tech on something off topic and it looks bitchin. (the Barbie Bike's big mean sister.)
got all my new tie rod ends on and rear brakes done...waitin on a grease seal for the back and its rollin got some 9.99 lights at o'bryans and made a bracket for the 70 trump
I replaced my driver glass...had it tinted blu, and proceeded to scratch it all to hell putting it in!! yee ha looks good!
Had the brothers from the south up for a friends Bday last night, so today I conned them in to helping me lift the body off my A bone. We where all a little fuzzy from way to much beer last night and it was DAMN heavy as the seats, glass etc is in the body. Now its time to get moving and finish up the chassis. I don't think the BEAUTIFUL sedan body is going back on that chassis. I think I'm going to opt for the beat down 29 rpu sheet metal over the mint, straight, shiny sedan...
web page web page Got moved into my new garage. It's still a mess but I am happy to have a place to drink beer and operate power tools.
Swapped out the beat as **** flexplate/flywheel from the c4 and got the new one in. Almost got everything back in place and hopefully get it fired up again this coming week. That is if there aren't any unexpected surprises! A pretty productive day actually...
Started taking the interior of my car apart. I found I'm leaking somewhere in the firewall and it's sliding down and getting under the mat in the front seat. Much longer and I'm sure I would have started to get some deep pits of rust on my floorboards. I cleaned it up, tossed the old floor mats away and nailed the floor with some rustolum. Took off the kick plates as well to clean those up and get some shine back in those pieces, and taped up the corners of the door frames and sprayed them... lots of little bits of surface rust everywhere. Went to Wallyworld and got me some more fabric for my seats... should be killer!
Woke up at 5:30AM, made a sign that said "CKD For Sale Here!" and headed off to Jersey for a swap meet. Arrived at 7AM and made a bee line for my buddy's booth. He lets me put out mags every year. I promised myself that I wouldn't look around because I would buy something.. I took off to help Larry load a cowl into my pick up and found another cowl ('28/29 Ford) for 35 bucks. Damn..I was gonna be good today! So off we go to load my cowl AND his into my truck.. . Sold more mags and strayed off again..this time I bought a Hot Rod Yearbook from '63 for 10 bucks. That was all I bought except for food. Sold a box and a half of mags too.. Spike
Friday evening, I bought a not so pretty 68 Impala with so much dirt and bird crap on it, that the color was indistinguishable. Took it straight to the carwash, and spent eight whole dollars on washing birdstuff. Saturday, spent most of the morning cleaning wasp nests, dead mice, and mud out of the interior(door jambs, under seats, under dash) Worked a few minutes on the 47 Ford. Sunday, cleaned more on the 68 Imp., changed the ill fitting buckets and console out for a bench seat. Came in the house exhausted, got a beer, sat down for a short nap. Guy came by and wanted the car, gave me a deposit, said he would be back today. We'll see' 48 hours is the shortest time I have owned any car. Jim
Johnnygringo, did you make those trees on that bike? Pretty Cool. I wired the spacetruck and got it running again.
Got the fleetside bed for the '59 coated on the inside, ready to bolt it back together and get rid of the ugly as yellow that's onit. Got the 425 clean and ready for paint. Got the Jag suspension sitting under the Buick, just need to fab the mounts.
What did I get done?? Too much too list! I had all last week off and haven't been here in quite a few days. I'd start in the shop by about 8:30 and be there all day til the wife got home from work! What a great week it was !! Now I'm back at work But at least I've got some time to catch up on what's been happening here
Pulled the hood off the chevy, and removed the 50 yr old undercoating to make way for filling and peaking my hood.
Actually the Sinner garage had made some progress on my T roadster: Torque tube welding complete...and painted... Driveshaft in place with holding pin(allen Key) Some patch panels on the body and some primer too. Column drop set up fer hangin..and locking collar moved. Door latches re sprung. Stuck stud in flathead block taken out.(with some heat) Tim MBL
Friday, cruised Denver alone cause the wife had to work and I was bored. Saturday, tattooed all day made some good cash for my next project Sunday, flushed the coolant in the 53, put different thermostats in and did the annual reachecking of all 48 head bolts.
worked all day saturday, at night i decided to yank the nest of wires out of my 57 ferd... theres deffinately a short somewhere, gonna rewire the car. went to low springs place sunday and moved a bunch of his projects around, he made fun of my ethnicity and my secret project, it made me cry.... met praisethelowered when he stopped by, (nice ranchero!!)
The floors looked good so the next step was to shoot a coat of olive drab etching primer on after smearing some bondo on the repairs,,,,Hey,,,it's starting to look like we are making progress!!!! HRP
