Relearnt something I shoulda remembered from many years ago. Don't install your side trim on the doors if you don't have the door checks installed. Now I've got a nice dent in the stainless that I have to take out. Damm what a*****y move. B B
with some help i changed my brake cylinders, shoes, master cylinder, some hard lines and the front flex hoses...and cleaned out my shed..to much junk!!!chilled out most of sunday[today]
Sanded and primed the new bed for the '59. Worked on the crossmember for the Buick/Jag suspension swap.
Fab'd some patches for my vintage recessed firewall. ALso strarted fabing my toe boards for teh 29 TUDOR.
1st- got all pinstriping done on flames, tailgate and dash of the truck. 2nd-got the www mounted/bal. and put on truck. now on it's own feet. 3rd- got oak cut for bed floor, wife poly'd it 3 coats, going in tomorrow. 4th-sold my soul and gave up lots of stuff for a set of 54-55 olds flipper caps for the truck. ahhh, now I'm tired............
Actually feel like I made some progress today. Got the rear suspension dialed in, new 4" drop leaf spring, etc. That's about it, then it was dad duty with the new little hot rodder!
Got most of the old paint DA'ed off the 54 Chevy. Then shaved and primered the passenger door. Pulled more trim, and drank more beer. Geno
I got the whole air conditioning setup put in her majesty's commuter. (A little OT)...Converted it to 134A and it works!! It at least quits the******ing on that subject...now for the rest of the Honey-do list........
I finally got the body painted satin black to match the rest of the car on the '31 coupe. Then I layed out the scallops and sprayed them. I also started mounting the new seat. I'll finish it tommorrow night, then I can take it easy till the Round Up this coming weekend.
I waxed the blue truck before going to the HAMB BBQ/picnic Made some contour templates off the 60'Elky's right fender wheel opening flare so I could check the same on the left fender that I'm fixing tears and straightening from a thrown tread off a steel belted radial's damage. I made three plaster patches on the fender and removed them and cut theplaster patces up the middle on the band saw then traced the contour on a sheet of phenolic (that red-brown board that is used to be used for electric circuit boards) with a sharp scribe and cut them out. Now I can check my progress metalworking the flare back into shape.
Not much here... Picked up some more striping brushes and some more 1-shot, started on my contribution to the "wall o' stripes", finished up painting a magazine rack I had flying around for about seven years, started doing a mock up on a sign for Sawzall, tried to drop the car down off the stands but found out my floor jack is not working again...I hate that*****in' jack...put the heater box back in the ford after making some much needed alterations, put a clock in the dash, stopped to look at some old cars that the WIFE spotted. I still can't believe she saw them and then actually told me about it. And then added "we should turn around and go back to see what was there." Some good stuff but real rough...guess I did more than I thought this weekend. Hell, I even managed to make time to get loaded and watch some hockey.
HAMB gassed big time. Wire wheeled, grinded, drew pretty chalk lines, wielded the cutting torch, grinded some more, ate fajitas, drank servezas, slept in a bunkie (thanks little rads! ), got majorly dirty and generally had a blast with my new buds. Then I drug everything that wasn't bolted down home from the New Mexico wilderness. Weathered lumber for my mom, driftwood for some landscaping and vintage tin for ME!
Put the new dash in the 34 fordor that I'm working on for a friend. Thought I was going to have to modify my left hand to get one of the nuts on a stud. Sure was easier before the heater hoses and a/c were in the way. Hope to have this done soon so I can get back to work on the Cushman.
I got to enjoy Daytona Spring Run and Swap Meet - it was really light crowd this year, pretty boring.
Went to a club meeting/dinner/auction. Scored a set of original baby moon caps in great condition, with a brushed beauty ring thrown in. I have no idea what I will do with it, maybe, hang it on the wall. Beat on the roof of the 47 for a while. Jim
I finished trimming the welting flange off of the gas tank (top) panel on the cowl of my 31 and welding the panel to the firewall. annoyed my neighbors with a die grinder and next weekend i'm going to the ROUNDUP!
