Got my horn problem squared away, got 3/4 of the seat belts installed...may finish that yet tonight, catching a second wind. Did a few hours of driving around town, not finding any new issues.

I drove my car in the rain for the first time since I've owned it, only to find out it leaks water into the toe panel p***engers side. You guys gotta help me in the future and point out where the leak light be.
Drove the car to my father's garage since we started tearing apart my car port in order to build a garage of my own (yeah!). The whole weekend was spent measuring stuff, building the structure's iron pillars and ordering brick n mortar and sand for the work.

I didn't do a tremendous amount, was dealing with a big branch that broke off my cedar tree, getting that cut up.

Got the front splash pan painted argent silver, gloss but it looks good and will be hid mostly by the bumper and grill. Side mirrors are on. Located all the splash pan hardware.

Installed a 4" dropped axle, reversed the eyes on the rear springs, removed the overloads and drove my 58 pickup. :)

Oh, and I found out where several 55's and 56's have gone to die... I helped a buddy drop off a parts truck at his uncles house and put it in a****st at least a half dozen 55 or 56 sedans and 2-door hardtops as well as a pretty decent 59 Mercury 2-door hardtop, a 40 Mercury Fordor, a 46 Ford coupe, etc. Not much left of most of them, but still cool to find them. His uncle had a 56 2-door hardtop up by his house that was pretty nice and his dad has a 56 Club Sedan as well. I felt right at home.

Accidentally left the semi-primered '54 out in the rain for a few minutes. Pushed it back in the garage and spent a while drying off the bare metal areas.

Worked Saturday. Sunday, watched the first two episodes of Star Wars and managed to get the lower front shock absorber mounts cleaned up and primed. Made up for the lack of progress today by dis***embling the steering linkage, cleaning it, and applying a coat of primer. Working on the idler arm now, trying to figure out how to know if it needs to be replaced.

Nice when the car starts going back together and everything is new, clean and painted. Getting less dirty is an accomplishment in itself.

Nothing on the car. Had family visiting for several days and spent most of the time eating, drinking, hanging around a fire pit and shooting the breeze.

Mind if I ask what your "horn problem" was? I have the dual horns on my (6v.) 55, but when they were both hooked up, they kept frying the transformer (is that the proper name?) I finally found out that only one horn was bad (the one on the p***enger side). By disconnecting it, I now have one working horn and no burned out transformer. It just sounds wimpy. Any thoughts?

My horn problem was totally unrelated to anything normally found in our cars. I have aftermarket horns, a RF Express wiring panel that has a built in relay for the horns, and a 96 Mustang steering column which is where the problem was. The "new style" steering wheels have a coil electrical ribbon affair that p***es the power thru to the steering wheel for air bags, cruise control, and the horns. That ribbon had shorted out so it was completing the ground loop and therefore activating the horns. I pulled the steering wheel and replaced that ribbon coil. Some call them a clockspring.

Lots of Krud Kutter, power washing, s****ing, grinding and there may be a '59 Ford under all that. Mine was almost as rough. I have a build thread, "Workin' on the '59". Lots of recent pictures but it do***ents lots of things back to 2014.

Well, about 2 yrs ago the famous Von Dutch airport tool box appeared on the Jalopy Journal, and immediately it caught my eye., I had to have something similar.
Two years later i finally am finishing my own version. That is what I did this weekend, along with some more done on the new garage build. Oh.. I also got me a Mack and a 1-shot.

Had a fish fry and just spent time with family. Worked on the 56 all day Saturday so Sunday was a welcome break.
