It has been going down hill for quite some time. I finally stopped going and I live close enought to hear tem call cars to the staging lanes.

I thought when they changed the dates so it wasn't the same weekend as Col. Goodguys it would help but it hasn't.

The local numbers-matching musclecar crowd shuns that place because of the dust and dirt whenever the wind kicks up. I've seen some incredibly dirty pampered showcars out there. I'm a drive-em kinda guy but when it's dry & windy you just can't leave a car with a great interior on the west side of that facility with the windows down.

The parking lot is in better condition. Friggin ridiculous.

Super chevy as a magazine has stuck to an incredibly narrow format and the events are paying the price.

A buddy of mine went there last year and said it "****ed". Apparantly it has not "improved with age."

I agree the parking is not the greatest, especially if you end up towards the end of the track. Of course, Goodguys has no problem drawing a crowd.

I quit going years ago because I just don't like how they park all "like" cars park together. I want to park with my friends, not with every other tri-five. Do they still do that??

I went to the Super Chevy Show at National Trail in Columbus,OH a couple weeks ago. Yeah MAJOR disappointment and way too much money to get in. I won't be back.

That's sad to hear. I used to go to that show every year because it had a really big swap and a good size car corral. Sounds like it's gone downhill in the ten or so years since I last went.:(

Are you sure Kieth, I drove by there twice yesterday and they were going strong. There were spectator cars in all the lots and the racing went on until late afternoon.

I was definitely down. Pretty sad actually. It used to be the premiere Chevy show, and now it is just a small show at best.

They did a couple years ago. It's extra bad when coupled with the lot because you can't park in a different area that meets your comfort level for dirt. I think that's part of goodguys success in the same facility. You see the rattier cars gather in the dusty areas and they're alot cooler with dust than the billet dudes, or frame-off LS6 SS dudes.

I sure hope it pulls out of the dive, it's a cool show that deserves to go forward.

You have completely lost me. I have been going to IRP for year attending shows. Where is the dusty area at IRP? It has to be 90 and dry as a bone to be dusty and then it is no worse than in my drive after I cut gr***. Besides when was the last time you were at Indy for any show and there were no showers within 24 hours to keep the worst of the dust down?

Dust is not hurting Super Chevy. The fact that you cannot cruise, park with your friends, and the snobby # matching my car is better than your car, is hurting Super Chevy!

West side of the facilty. Area due south of the swap meet where there's a gate. Huge clouds rolling off the dirt and rock in that area with every footstep or tire rotation. There's several paths and chronically dead spots that kick up enough to coat an area the size of a football field. Rest of the facility not so bad. But if you're at super chevy in a chevelle and that's where chevelles park, you're dusty.

Tracy, you drive your car, not like a muscle resto guy who cringes at the thought of dust blowing on your car for 16 hours over the weekend. We're not talking a little dust, we're talking write your name on the hood by noon. ******** resto cars have been made the core of the super chevy show, and I'm sorry but lots of resto guys don't find that kind of parking acceptable. This isn't something I arrived at on my own, heard "warnings" from several clubs when I lived there and seen it myself. Doesn't happen every year, but when conditions are right, it happens and the power parkers get sh*tty.

just my 2 cents. Still a great facility overall and miss it alot.

Edit- just realized the last couple years have been construction mania due west of the track. Could be a contributing factor that should be tapering off as it fills up.
