Why does everyone always confuse the word "resemble" with "resent"? I hear that all the time.....

Someone has obviously never heard of the Marx Brothers! [IMG]

This looks like a blast but I wish it was later in the year. By that weekend, we will have 3 weeks left before the '36's first MANDATORY roadtrip to Memphis. I gotta thrash on my own car.

Count me in, it is a MUST that I am there for the design day. Keep in mind that "SuperVette" was purchased and customized for about $30.00. Monster garage eat your heart out. [IMG] [IMG]

Yes they would as a matter of fact. I talked to Red Shoes at the Autorama about me writing up something for the mag about what my plans were for the continued buildup of "Project Big Olds". He thought it was a good idea. Wait till he gets the recent scoop and some of the things that him and I talked about are getting done NOW! [IMG]

Tim at Rod and Custom also mentioned to me, shortly after I purchased Big Olds, to contact him when I "finished" him. I'm going to make sure he knows this is going down as well.

I got your PM but haven't actually been able to answer you yet. Way busy at work the last couple of days. I've got a couple of supersecert things in the works that I'll fill you in on.

  14. Denise do you have the shopping list put together yet on the supplies you need?..I can probably come up with some of the stuff like filler, paper, tape etc...let me know. Can we make this thrash international and let afew cabin fevered Canucks jump in and lend a hand? Oh ya....we could bring some "real beer" to this gig from the great white north [IMG], been known to make the body work look better at the end of the day! [IMG]

We can run a shuttle from Franks to MBS International Airport for those "Out of Hemisphere" Hambers that want to attend. [IMG]....I'm thinkin beer from canada and blondes from Sweden.

  18. Hatch, thanks for the warm welcome....I'm a 50 ale drinker(in Ontario, only Indians, lumberjacks and old guys drink 50) but I'll make sure I bring some "COLD" Molson Special Dry high octane brew with me just for you!.....I hear it's a good choice of keeping the sanding dust off the vocal chords and makes those blondes from Sweden look even better!!! [IMG]..Cheers F.E.

At last count it looks like about 40-50 are going to show up. That being the case I'll provide valet parking for $25 for the day and I'll make enough to get my old tired '32 back on the road for the summer. I sold one of the '32 bodies and am in the closing details for the other one. To hell with the stock market I smell the retirement fund nearing it's goal. I don't know, retiring with only 7 projects does sound a little risky. What am I going to do after I reach 110? I'll just have Denise put the top down on Big Olds and drive me to Florida and dump me on the beach.

    Frank

  20. fab32 I'll share my 50 ale with you...up here in Ontario we call it the elixir of life or the necture of the gods, should get you to 120, only bad side effect is, it makes all women look good after 1:00 am. [IMG]

In my dreams Frank, you and I are cruzn off into the sunset in Big Olds and it's a balmy 80 degrees with blue skies and plenty of sunshine [IMG]

Since I know next to practically nothing regarding body work, and I would have gone to the hardware store for sandpaper and supplies, Roadstar is making up the materials list. He said he'd post it.

I'll bring muffins, donuts, and bagels for breakie, and how about BBQing Italian Sausages for lunch and maybe HAMBurgers and chicken for dinner? I'll also bring plenty of juices, coffee, beer, water, and pop, including MtDew! [IMG]

I'll post some photos tommorrow of the areas on Big Olds that might need attention so you guys can kind of have an idea of what needs to be done.

Cool. I'll be there! Weather permitting I might bring the chevy II, and in theory the exhaust cutouts will be installed by then, and the TONY's parking lot's awful close to those big windows.... Wonder how many people I can piss off!?!?!? [IMG] [IMG]
I'll have to try to wear shorts that day Denise... Otherwise I have to drop the droors to show the tattoo!!! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

i'd like to be in charge of peaking the hood. i can do some preliminary work in my "free time" (LOL). i like how they did it in the magazine (was it RnC???) this last month. i think i can do that [IMG].....

DENISE. do me a favor. measure your hood down the middle from the cowl to the grill following the shape so i know how long to make the piece for the "peak". if i fab that part ahead of time we should be able to finishe the rest of it in one day. i think it's gonna be a LOOOOONG day too with all the work that is planned.

A peaked hood would be great....how much prelim can ya get done on it?...I know it would be tough to get through the hood transformation in one day, but if the welding was done without much distortion, the rest would be easy.

If we can get any "heavy fabrication" done before "paintday" we shouldn't have any problem getting it completed in one day. By heavy fab, I mean things like panel fit or the hood peak...small stuff concerned with welding shouldn't slow us down too much..small stuff like filling door handles, etc.

If we plan on shooting the paint around 4pm, that would give some dry time...(dinner break)...and then some striping for dessert....this way, everyone involved gets to see the finished product and get home before 4 in the morning.. [IMG]

I have no problem with an early saturday start. I know Franks air will handle two or three DA's. Sound like a plan?????

Mike, if it would make it easier for you I can take the hood off and bring it with me next weekend to Birch Run if you and CherryBlossom will be there. If your not coming, I can drop the hood off at your place on the way home. Then you could bring it on the 3rd and I'd just drive Big Olds up there hoodless. Just a thought, let me know if this sounds like a good idea to you.

I spent some time in teh garage tonight looking over Big Olds and taking some photos. Do you guys realize what your getting into??? [IMG]

    I'll share some photos.

This is the bottom corner of the drivers door. It has started to bubble, about the size of a quarter.
