Judging by all these photos , the percentage of cars competeing in the stock classes of the day. Mopar 99% Chevy, Ford , Mercury and the others 1% lol Would love to see a few more full size Mercury's from back then to inspire my 64 Marauder project. loudbang your the master, see what you can do. lol Larry

 

LOL I'm a Ford fan too. Higher classes have a lot of Ford and Mercury Cars. Junior stock not too much. For a Merc feed have you checked the Marauder thread

427 vs 409 but the Marauder would be a tad heavier

 

I have been following the 64-65 Comet thread for a while but this is the first I have seen the Marauder thread. I once owned a ‘64 Parklane Marauder, Black over white buckets, 390, cruiseomatic, power windows, am/fm. It is still one of my favorite cars but it was so rusty I sold it. Still have the ‘64 Cyclone I bought in ‘68.

 

Thanks for the link loudbang. a lot of the pictures are gone ,but still some great info. My Marauder project is more street than race with a super stock vibe. And I wish my car was a 427, it was an original 390 car and now has a warmed up 428. And besides Fords and Mercs have to be heavy so that it's fair for Chevys to race against them! lol Hi James ! Is there something wrong in this picture? Looks like the drivers door is shorter than usual. Maybe 4 door. Is that an alternative way to alter the wheelbase?

 

I am pretty certain you are correct, and that is a front door from a 4 door sedan.
