Ehh, it happens- guess you just can't win it all.

I should have mentioned that I finally ordered the service manual for my Caddy- I don't know how I lasted without it.

  4. bolted the trans back on the engine and put it back in the frame, did a little measuring and fitting for the shocks and pinion angle, taught a 16 y.o. to weld a little, and let him loose narrowning the '60 Corvair dash, got the column support figured out, test fit the Rivi console and found the shifter I misplaced, threw a quicky paint job on the scoop/air cleaner. Went over to see cfish1950's new '46 Tudor, that thing is absofrickinlootly rust free, and runs like a really quite sewing machine. Helped my sister move, (missed the Rumblers show) and went to a Super Bowl party.

Rolled the Dodge outside for the first time since the fall. Have the floor and rocker repair done. Put the seat in so I could position the accelerator and brake pedal pad. Think my steering wheel angle will be just right. I then sat in it and went "v-roooom v-roooom"!!

Saturday got my tires mounted on my new wheels got them on the car. Ripped out the 2" exhaust and Smithys, replaced it with 2 1/2 and Flowmasters with dumps. Car sounds 100% better now, just need to do a few more things to it before I take it out for a spin.

Drove my '47 for the first time since I have owned it! I only reversed it out of the garage, then drove it back in, but its a milestone. Its been such a saga getting the driveline sorted out that I refused to let the wife video tape me - I feared it would be one of those hilarious (when its not you) videos on youtube.

I got drunk, and thought about how cool the summer is going to be with my Ford back on the road.

Then I got drunk again, and watched the Giants bring it back home to New York.

Ah man.. that is FANTASTIC work.

As for me, I made a little room in my garage to put this in it. Now it needs to be straightened up again. Hopefully this little 331 will take my car to Austin in two months. Fingers are crossed.

Yep, I'm actually fairly surprised at how interested they are in "our" hot rod. Saturday when we were working I tried explaining to them how the engine worked, cam, timing, valve train etc. then Sunday quizzed them while they were breaking it down. They did very well, my son can now count to 8 the correct way, 1 5 4 8 6 3 7 2.

The other thing I learned was if they have something to do other than "hand me a wrench' or "hold this flashlight" their interest holds a lot longer, now I know why I didn't like working on cars with my dad when I was their age...

Found and drug my latest project out of the woods. First time it's been moved since the early '80's. '46 Hudson truck on a Buick frame with a straight 8. Worked on my '47 Chevy truck, cut out the center of the firewall and floorboard and raised the engine 6". Cut and flattenned the front frame rails. Mocked up the new header/intake flange for the 235 with the McGurk 3 carb intake w/ fellow HAMBer CNC-dude Scott Marshall. Figured out the front and rear suspension set-up for the '47. Got rained out at work today and waiting on the Steel Store to open to get materials for the suspension, then its welding time for the rest of the day.......Other than that drank some beer and threw darts in the garage between commercials and superbowl.:D

  19. Got the fixed radiator ready to go back in(on) the car. Also messed around with a new overflow tank (1945 canteen) and where it might go.

This quote is priceless, I know exactly how you felt.

Put the wooden floor in my 28 chevy. Have the wood for the front done and also the bottom rails along with the floor. Picts to come when I get the batteries charged!

I re-routed the exhaust on my '40 Ford pick up. It had stacks going straight up behind the cab, it now runs out the back. I should have a proper bed on it by the end of the week.

Huh, work on Superbowl weekend? Didn't know you could put those words together in the same sentence. :D Light weight stuff and general maintenance. Oil, filter, fluids for the daily driver and a nice touch up paint job on the radiator on the Krylon car.

Pulled the 3rd member and axles from my '57 Ford. Dropped them off at the driveline shop to get rebuilt.

Started to hang the front sheet metal on a 40 Woody. Built some cool tailight mounts for the 34 truck, and taught my help how to weld a seam in the middle of a panel and keep it from warping.
A good week end, and a good football game!

  29. It was rainning here when I got up on Sunday so I stayed in the house and I tore in to my 1948 O'keefe & Merrett stove to replace the thermal coupler. Not a ***y as what some of you guy's got done but hey now you have to do a little house work and anyway now the oven work's.

    I love vintage stuff,
