Blown49 has a, well, blown Merc engine in his 49 Merc Anyway, he and some of his locals have a get-to-gether at an old 40's gas station and they serve up some REALLY good smoked tenderloin....man it was good. Sorry, I'll get back. When I first turned the corner, there was an older ratted out Mustand sitting there and some younger guys all standing around. I pulled in and they all just stared at me like I didn't belong. I was driving my wife's rice burner and had our baby in the back.... I realized quickly that this wasn't the place and drove on down about another block. There she sat. Wow! I've never really been a custom fan, but this thing looked mean and sneaky. There was no mistaking it for Blown49's car- the one I had driven over an hour to see. Their crusie-in was pretty much rained out. Only a couple of muscle cars showed up. So, I asked Jim if he wanted to head back my way, there was a car show going on until 10pm and it was just 2-3 minutes from my house. He said he was game, let's go. I got some action shot's of his car... When we got there, I'm a tellin' ya, they SWARMED his car. You know how everyone at the local cruises are the same cars......well, he sure drew a crowd. When we first got out, there was a young boy- looked all of 12- that came over and said, "I like your flat head, sir. I wish more of the cars here had their flatheads back in them." Well, the kid had mine and Jim's #. I questioned him as to where he goes to school, etc.. Turn's out, he is taking automotive repair at our local Voc Tech and that his was actually 17! Jim stood there tellin' tales and listen to the people tell him how great his car it- because it is! ****, I'm still fired up just talking about it. I simply love that car. It's just right. Subtle where it needs to be and dressed out where it needs to be. I went to make my rounds and as I did, I was directing people Jim's way. The local guys have come to know me as the kid that likes flattys and they are always wanting to talk to me about it. "Hey boy, don't you think my car would look good with a flatty?" I just smile and say yes. I really enjoyed meeting Jim and seeing his sneaky car. That blown flatty sounds mean!
Man, it really is! I feel like I have discovered something (just an awakening for me)........like I said, I never really cared for customs.....but ****! They descended on him like an Iraqi fighter shot down by and F18! There's one ole' fella there that his dad was an old flat head hotrodder and I've known him for years. I"m always giving him **** about his Chebby. I told him, "Hey, just wait till this flatty cuts loose on your Chebby!" He said, "Heck, I don't want to race it, I want to be driving it......"
hey all, yeah that car is ****ing killer...super sano and anything that runs a flatty let alone a blown one is a real winner in my book. danny
