I recently purchased a radiator from a company called Superior Radiator from Michigan. The radiator was supposed to be for my 31 Model A with a 32 ford grille shell. Anyways, I purchased the radiator about 37 days ago over the phone, charged me $435 for an aluminum one and I still have not recieved it. I was wondering if anybody on the HAMB knows this company or has done business with this company? I keep getting told that it's going to arrive the next day but that day never comes. Is this a legit company? Did I get swindled? Or am I over reacting?

It is a legit company, or was. I ordered one also and it tooook forever and one day longer to get it. I had to call five times a day to finally get it sent. It is a good product and I bought based on recommendations here. Mine came with wrong inlet and outlets though in the correct location (Pontiac). They consistently tell you it's coming...gave me a two year old tracking number...then came back with a couple of different stories until they finally sent the correct one. Took about 2 months to get mine though it was promised in 4 weeks.

I was promised a week and a half!!! If he would have told me it would get here in a month I wouldnt have a problem with it. Do you think I should just wait? This is holding up my progress. Im trying to get the car done for the MOONEYES CHRISTMAS SHOW 2008. But that dream is slowly fading away.

I purchased my radiator and fan schroud from them in the spring of 2002. No issues what so ever, less then a week actually to build and install a custom radiator, schroud and fan for Big Olds. VERY pleased with the quality of the product and the service. Something must have changed there. Just so happens Big Olds is going to the shop that is located right newxt door to them on Monday. I will walk over and find out whats going on.

6DeuceCaddy, PM me your real name, address and phone number and I will personally find out whats going on an report back.

I got the one for my T Bucket from them last year and it actually arrived a day early. I have had no issues with it. Maybe things have gone bad with the economy. Cutbacks, etc.

I bought a custom aluminum rad from them about four years ago. It's a small(er) shop that is very busy. I got mine in just a couple days, but I am only about 45 minutes from them. It's a nice piece too, worth waiting for. I took a core support that I had fabbed up to them and told them what motor I was running and told them to build the biggest thing I could put in my core support. Works great!

I have dealt with them for years but always in person. They can be very disorganized at times but the quality of the product is always good.

I still have'nt recieved anything. I spoke with Charlie (owner) yesterday he said he was going to send another one out that same day since I never recieved it. I think thats really cool of him. Maybe it did get losed in the mail. We'll see......

  11. If Charlie said it got lost I would believe him. He is a good friend and a very dependable buisness man.

He has built about a million Radiatiors for stockers to hotrods to racecars.

Hope everything works out for you.

    Nope, not cool at all.
I dropped Big Olds off at the shop next door to Superior at 8am this morning expecting to pay Charlie a visit to find out what's going on. Shop was closed and my buddy Jim who's shop is next door stated to me they don't open till 9am. He also told me that their head welder messed up his back real good but I don't know if that has put them behind or not. In any event there is no reason to lie to customers about when radiators have shipped.

I told Jim what is going on with a few friends across the country not getting theirs in a timely fashion AND getting the run around when they call. Not sure if he's going to say anything to Charlie.

I'll be heading back there in a day or two to pick Big Olds up. I'll try to do it after 9am and if so I will stop in and "chat" with Charlie to see what's up.

Denise, thanks for the insight on the shop. They sounded like a good place to order from until this thread began filling in some current details. Hopefully they can complete this fellow's order.

Not a problem, you ordered over the phone so undoubtedly paid with a credit card. Company is not allowed to charge the card until services rendered.
If they did, deduct that from your monthly CC bill and enclose a note to your CC company... until you receive it.

Oh, you didn't pay for it, did you?

If you paid with a credit card you can get a credit. I paid up front for some chrome work to get a discount and found out 2 months later that the shop was in trouble. The credit card company credited my account. I got lucky and got my parts back. It worked for me.

Charlie charges the credit card immediately. However, just dispute the charge as not having received the merchandise. Please remember that you only have 60 days after billing (I believe) to dispute a charge.

I also purchased 2 radiators from them via ebay and they were a little slow, but good product.
Sounds like he is on his way to going belly up, ******** will get you there but it wont keep you there. I am sure some of the issues could be shipping company stuff but not all of it.
Shame when things start to go wrong honesty goes with it!

Not even close to being correct. NOT a money issue here. He is doing well, the company is doing well. So well in fact that he can't keep up with the demand, especially when your top welder gets hurt. He has gone from repairing or building & installing custom radiators locally to selling via the internet. Business exploded and at this point he's just trying to get the product out. He should be telling customers true production and shipping times as opposed to unrealistic time frames. That is his issue.

I hope he can get thru it as his product is good, but yes he just needs to be honest on his delivery times, if he is not, that is how he will lose future customers and it will be hard to get them back.

I agree be honest with the shipping times and you will have return customers. If he would have told me a month, I would have a waited a month patiently for a quality product. But don't lie to me repeatedly day after day. All I hear is tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. BS. I talked to Charlie yesterday and he told me it is out for delivery. We'll see.

I called Charlie again today. I told it's been way too long. That if he shipped it again it should have been here. I asked him for the shipping tracking number. He said that I was right that I shouldve recieved the radiator by now. He said that UPS emails him the tracking number. He told me to call him back in 1 hour because the computer he was on wasn't working. When I called back no one answered. I called 3 more times and nothing. This isnt the first time this has happened when I asked for a tracking number. He seems like a really nice guys but now it seems like he's f*@#$ing with me.

I was wondering if I could get into an internet-based business that made money and released me from 'corporate' America. Apparently, good quality radiator shops thrive, yet have trouble keeping up with demand. Hmmm....
