Umbra, I had the same idea and built mine as if it was 1964. Sorry tho, it's a ford. But love that era chevy!

    That's Coool. I like Ford's. Had a 64 t-bird...blew it up.
The Old Man was the die hard Chevy guy.
I've been looking at the 60s Nascar Chevys. I like the look and stance with the 15 inch steel wheels (chrome and painted).
I think a guy in that era might have tried to pull that off, even with a 283.

Build a 406 cid small block, swap in a trick powerglide and 4500 convertor, put a brute strength rear end in it with 4.30 gears, tuck a pair of 28x9 slicks in the rear and hang on for a 10 second ride !

Like has been mentioned.....Change it to a stick shift. If not a 4 speed, then a 3 speed. Would definitely have to have a Hurst shifter.....Not a Foxcraft.....Not an Ansen Pos-I-Shift......Nothing but a Hurst.

And make sure it's a Syncro-Loc too, not that cheesy look'n Mystery Shifter.

Chromed reverse wheels (maybe with baby moons), see if I could find a HP 327 (350 horsepower or more) and a 4 speed out of a late model wreck.

In 1965, the 409s were rapidly becoming boat anchors. If you were looking for a big Chevy engine, it was a rat, not a W motor.

Put on either a set of Chrome Reverse or 5 spoke Cragars. Go down to the local Western Auto and get me a couple of Cherry Bombs, and misc. goodies to dress her up. If it has buckets take the small throw pillows out of my 62 so that my future Wife and I will be comfortable at the Drive-in or when we are parking down by the lake watching the Submarine races. For a little extra performance step up and pay 5 cents more per gallon for the Sunoco 260 gas. The following week drive around with a For Sale sign and use the profit on the next ride.

If it was 1965....I probably would have dropped the front end, and raised the back-end up in the air....Cragar wheels and fat tires on the back (with thin white walls).....and add the most needed part: the chrome rear axle cover!:D.....oh, and the new 8-track tape player system (if I could afford it),... would have been sweet indeed!

Take it to the dragstrip and hammer the hell out of it. Mods can come as money comes available.

Chrome reverse wheels on the back, 5 spoke mags on the front.

Drive it for a while as is, enjoy it, look around and see what looks good to you, and then go for it. [emoji41][emoji106]
