Either way, it looks good. You could put damned near anything on it (within reason), and it would look cool in my opinion.
EXACTLY what I felt, to the letter. And that's why I started this thread. There's just something a hair off kilter here, and I can't put my finger on it.
For what its worth, I think it has to do with the Scallops patern , making it look too busy with the supremes, To me it looks less busy and much cleaner with the chomes and cones.
I like the Supremes, but what size are they? They look a little big. IMO, 15" Supremes start to look a little torque thrusty like Django said. But 14's...are perfect. I don't know why it make a big difference to me, but it does.
They're 14's. I don't like 15" Supremes either. And I agree. That 1 inch makes a big difference in a 15" Supreme
Hmmm. I'm gonna say I like the smoothies better. I think Django and porkshop hit the nail on the head. There's something about the paint and smoothie combo that looks more cohesive on that car. It still looks *****in, but just a tiny bit unsettling. And you know me Groucho, I have like 4 cars running 'premes. That new angle is definitely a better shot though!
I wasn't nuts on the smoothies. I think this car would look best with OG chromes, bullet caps, and bullet lugnuts.
Groucho,,i know you are from the old lowrider school,,,and not to be a ****,,but i love astros,,,the only thing is, in my opinon ,is that the scallops on the elco are better fitted for the chrome steelies.(more of a harveys thing.....i DO like the astros much better than the steelies, but i was adresing what you were gettting at a few post above...
Now it won't match the Mooneyes catalog.......... I liked the smoothies but the supremes are nice too.
Some very different opinions. That's for sure. Obviously I don't like the Supremes as much as I thought I would. That's why I started this thread. OK, I wasn't crazy about the smoothies. That's why they came off. I put the Supremes on 'cause I had em. What I really want is OG chrome reverse style wheels with bullet caps, and bullet lugs. I like the hubcap bumps, and the bumps around the lugnut area look. Whadda you guys think about that?
I personaly like them both, I tend to go more towards the smoothies though, they look smiple and clean. That car is too cool man. I never have even thought of an Elcamino like that. it inspires me to go pick up that Elco I found the other day!
"What I really want is OG chrome reverse style wheels with bullet caps, and bullet lugs. I like the hubcap bumps, and the bumps around the lugnut area look. Whadda you guys think about that?" Those are my favorite rim for the exact reason's you mentioned. I think that's why i like the supreme's more than the smoothies with cones. I've never been a big fan of chrome rim's with caps.. But, when you talk of the OG style...that's a whole different story. I'd LOVE to see them on the Elco..
Yep, OEM style chromies, 14inchers would look great with your existing paint. I'd mask off the scallops and spray them with more candy g**** so the end result was less contrasting than what you have now, and KEEP the SUPREEMS. You'd have to re'clear though.... That minty Elco is really clean!
That '67 Elky is bad *** too. Hmm, maybe I should do something like that to my '67 wagon. I've not been terribly excited about finishing it (dog dishes and steelies and redlines like my '67 convertible) but yet can't bring myself to sell it either. Hmm...
I'd roll with Supremes, I see you are trying to sell it, see what gets more calls with supremes or with shannons? I say Supremes. Nice ride BTW! .. xtra
Goucho, leave it the way it is! that is by far the sickest elky around. That wheel tire combo you have is what makes it unique, an elco on supremes been there done that sort if thing ya know. P.S I wish I still had the loot for that deal man, times have been better. Buzz Bomb [/quote]
