I went food shopping today and it was COLD but dry out so I took the 56 Chrysler out shopping. I hit 4 food stores to get the deals. As you can see it sure beats trying to jam it all in to the front seat of my dodge pick up truck. {I used to leave the food bags in the back of my pick up truck but when I stopped at another store to shop the bags would get stolen}Problem solved. LOL. Bruce.
Those giant trunks were great for sneaking a bunch of friends into the drive in movies back in the day.
I like the trunk in the 2nd Blues Brothers movie where it was laid out as Busters bedroom. Pretty sure it was a Ford sedan (Police car).
Actually, with how little groceries you have there in the trunk, you should have just used the glove box. Save the trunk for your Austin Mini or Fiat 500 backup. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
Looks like a nice drive/day. Little tip, take 1 extra plastic bag from the store, and tie it thru the loops, keeps the bags from rolling over in the p***enger footwell of your truck. I drove a reg cab short bed for a lot of years.
Even with trunk air....there's still a lot of room in a 56 mopar ! All the best in the new year Bruce !
I don't own any car with a trunk that large, so I decided to put a locking lift up cover on my pickup box.
My dad & his friend brought deer or moose home in the trunk of our 61 Chev Belair. The trunk was generally used like a truck until my dads hunting buddy bought an old Chev pick up. The 61 when down a lot of logging roads while hunting those moose or deer. The car did double duty between family and my dads hunting. No one had money 60 years ago for a second vehicle so the car was the general purpose vehicle in this country. I remember dad took out the back seat then we went out in the country to fill potato sacks with black soil for the garden. The sacks were laid in the car where the rear seat was so the heavy load was centered so the car could handle the load for the ride home.
When I had my other 56 Chrysler Windsor, the local police thought this was funny when I opened the trunk when they were checking out my car.. I told them it was Jimmy Hoffa. Bruce.
