This was the real deal in the late 70's early 80's. Car came out of Santa Cruz. I'm currently bringing it back to life HERE
We are now in on this one. just picked up this long roof last month. looking into the rack and boards now!
I love this wagon, can anyone tell me if the wood was a factory option or is it a kit, the reason I ask is, I have never seen one with wood on it before and I like it! I did a some searches, but didn't find any info or kits any help/info would be appreciated. Murch.
Murch. To answer your question at that time Plymouth made 2 lines of cars. The standard line which included a typical 4 door woodie station wagon. And a cheaper line on a shorter wheelbase consisting of a 3 window coupe, a fastback 2 door sedan and a 2 door steel wagon. This was the first all steel station wagon by any car maker and it had a big success, as it was the cheapest wagon on the market. The car in the pictures seems to be one of the cheaper, all steel 2 door models that someone has dressed up with wood trim and wood grain paint. Whether it is a one off or a kit I don`t know but it sure looks sweet doesn`t it.
Yeah, I really like it, adds a little flavor to an already cool wagon. Thanks for the info, I'm still in the learning stage, so all info I can absorb is great. Murch.
Murch..Thanks for the compliments on the wagon, first, Plymouth made two all steel wagons a Suburban and a Savoy the Savoy had stainless trim under the side windows, around the windsheild and some interior stuff while the subur was a lower cost version. The wood on my car was done by The Wooden Carr co. in Signal Hill Ca. by Doug Carr. I put this wagon on a shorten 1998 S-10 with a 300 hp sbc crate motor/ 350 trans. just saw rusty otoole's comment about the wood grain, there is No woodgrian it's all wood......
We live in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains so I feel it would be stupid to carry a surfboard. HRP
Thank you! Nothing looks as lame as a surfboard strapped BACKWARDS onto the roof of a vehicle, 500 miles or more away from the beach. I wish some others would follow your lead. Nice wagon! ..And by BACkWARDS, I mean nose first!
