I am looking at a 55 mercury Monteray 9 passenger. 292 4 v 3 w/ over drive power brakes and power steering with factory dual exhuast. With 40 K on the clock. The only thing missing is a radio knob. Body is STRAIGHT!!!! Can anyone fill me in on the OD. It is a 3 speed on the column and you pull a lever marked Over drive. How rare was this. How rare was the power steering? Thanks
well since i showed you the picture of my wagon on what was it first maiden voyage to the GG show, here is what it eventually became while I owned it. had to sell it to get my woodie surf wagon (well it will be some day)
Well thats a cool combination, a '59 Nomad and '59 house... Personally I do not believe anything is coincidence, or merely by chance... Like they were supposed to go together...
Not quite a wagon, but the real deal anyway. 1956 FJ Holden ute. I'm the barefoot surfer dude in the white sweatshirt at the back, the solid coloured board behind me was my pride and joy back in 1964. I can't see where I may have posted this pic earlier in the thread, please excuse if I have. Cheers, Glen.
Here's my wife's, we call it "cheese" for obvious reasons. 62 Falcon Squire, 289, Ford-o-matic and suspension all from a 65 Mustang. Lowered it as much as I could and still be very drivable for my wife (falcons dont lower easy). I added bellflower tips, traditional pinstriping much like what I thought a mid 60's surf wagon would have had and the vintage Samsonite suitcase in the back contains a remote stereo w/4 speakers. This thing is a blast to drive!! I am working on a tiki style headliner for it now. The short board is a 6'2" Harbour board I bought in Cocoa Beach, Fl. as a kid in 1981. The long board is a Bruce Jones 8'4" I bought off ebay from Florida several years back. My kids have surf on both in the Gulf.
i saw a 50 buick in malibu with a mail slot cut in the trunk and no back seat, easily slip a 10' noll in there.
here is a woody wagon for you guys. This should scare the hell out of some of you, damn that's ugly but I will take what is strapped on top of it! Had these sent to me the other day and I had a good laugh. I collect the little cars!
Okay guys...here I thought I would refrain from posting on this tread until I saw the Isetta and Fiat.....when you think of "surf wagons" the one that everyone should think of is this......and for those of you that have old Playboy magazines laying around, check out May 2000 and you will see this in the centerfold with Jan Berry's neice Brooke Berry........
This is mine. Doesn't look too much the part I guess as I carry my board inside. Fold down the rear seat & my 8'er fits nicely in the passenger side from tailgate to windscreen. Great if I'm going down on my own, if I take a mate have to let them (boards, not mates) hang out over the tailgate. Also use this as my everyday car. Have a policy on new cars (won't have em) that drives the wife nuts!
Warren, that Falcon wagon looks awesome! Nice and clean too, I like it! As for the cabriolet above, that looks kind of like my 46 Chrysler 3 window business coupe (Windsor). It's got a little bubble top and a HUGE trunk. I had an older gentleman tell me that when he was young a friend had one and they would put an 8 foot john boat in the trunk and it fit great to where the boat stuck out the back only a little bit. Funny thing about the old Chrysler too is that as for how big it looks it actually weighs less than a new 4 door Toyota Camery.
That is a bad ass looking wagaon, I found one of these a few miles from were I live. I just might have to try and strike a deal with the old guy.
Using an Australian 4.1liter (250) alloy head 6. Pretty much the standard Ford 6 through the 80's till about 88 or 89 so they're plentiful over here. Nice & grunty too
You dudes have some SICK rides. Since you're talking green here's another green machine. I told my kid I couldn't afford a house on the beach but we could look good getting there-'64 Burb. Green and white epoxy primer.
