I personally think the 53 grill dash is weird and funky......so now exactly what was cool in the 60s and 70s that WASNT weird and funky? It fits man, ive never seen it but knowing you and what you build it will be spot on in the end, would be neat if instead of a 47 speedo you could get one of those pods that has speedo and all the other guages in it so its allll in the center, i know a few made em like that, olds, ford, nash! Just another guys idea Screenshot_20220911_213517.jpg

@Wired Customs LLC when you hold that speedo to the bullet are you going to have to remove most of it or is it just an illusion and it will leave some protruding? I feel the bullet is a highlight amongst that length of shiny part from the galaxies far away...;)

That would be how your eyes would be seeing with the needle buried tongue hanging out like a Ratfink...great observation...;)

That's pretty spacey for 1949...I like that...gotta make your eyes go funny to read it...:D...70s what's the 70s?...unless of course they copied the early to mid 60s...then it gets a pass...;)

Use exhaust elbows to house the other gauges.

Yes many circa 57 or older Hotrods do evolve over the years to my teen years (70s) and more...generally not in a complimentary way either...not all but many...

That's why many here look for many times and or receive historic pics and that helps bring them back to their heyday...

Again some maintained the historic pre 65 and older splendor into the post Hamb era...others just kept rolling with the times...we don't here...

Kookie had many faces, but Jims Streets revamp still had many early 60s inspirations so it may have got a pass here even in its 70's guise...they still chose to go back to a pre 65 config...

The Dick Williams T is another...Blackie G had it and they chose to turn the dial back on that to...when it was aquired after his passing...

What LLC is doing is parking his mind and Shop between Ed Roth and George Barris's shops and dreaming a little...I get it...remember that Illustration that had been done by a talented Artist Chris Piscitelli earlier on Pg 1, we have alot to look forward too...and the 70s isn't part of it...;)

  9. Thank you Stogy, with everything I’ve done it still looks like the picture of the truck from 1965, and our vision for it hasn’t changed, everything on the truck still makes it fall in the 1960s era, there is some confusion since I said 1972, that’s the last year the truck was on the road, I’m not building it as a 70s rod. Here is a picture of the truck from 1965 with a 283 in it just like we are doing now, then here is the rendition of the truck as what we plan for it to look like 7B3106F8-8E14-4C1A-B236-36CDC5190607.jpeg 540D5382-4273-41FC-A7F0-62A14A69AD69.jpeg 4C8757F0-8B31-4A2C-AFFD-E32EA0E4C76A.jpeg

  10. Here you go, here is some perspective on how big the bullet is compared to the speedo, it should be mostly bullet and shaped right into the speedo

  11. I do like this idea with everything wrapped up in one unit, would look cool in the center of the dash

  12. What might be quite cool, and very 60s-ish (I think), would be to make a clear bullet shaped bubble to go over the front of the speedo so that the bullet shape of the grille is still there. You could use the original bullet to vacuum form the plastic over? It might make viewing the speedo tricky though if it distorts things too much?

    Just a thought… carry on.

    Glen.

  13. I haven’t thought of that, that’s a really good idea!

  14. Another thought… cut the tip off the bullet, mount the speedo, then put the tip of the bullet back on with a hinge. You could then open it to drive and close it at shows or what-not hiding the speedo. o_O

But of course, you might not want the speedo hidden...

    Glen.
