I'll start out with some background info. I'm working on building a model A tudor. I'm currently working on the suspension, and I'm stuck on what to do. I'm new to building hot rods, so I don't want to do anything real complicated for my first attempt. I've did some looking around on here and found some good info, but can never seem to find a thread when I want to go back to it. So what I'm looking for is suspension and frame ideas & pictures, or links to good model a frame threads. Here's my plan so far: I have access to 3 model A frames, one really nice one that I don't want to cut real bad, one that has just the front cross member, and another complete frame with bad horns. I want to run the at least the front section of a model a frame because I love the looks of the horns. I am also looking for ideas on front cross members to get the car to sit lower, so I don't have to "z" the frame so much. In the front I'm running a superbell 4" drop axle and reverse eye spring with 16 X 6.00s. The car will be getting a 53 8BA and t-5, so it won't be seeing nasty horsepower or anything. I have boxing plates I plan on installing and a Dagels crossmember if I decide to use a whole model A frame. The rear suspension is where I really get stuck. I have a 9" rear and access to a 40 pick up front spring as well as an original model A and t rear spring. I plan on running the spring behind the axle with rear radius rods. The rear tires are Hurst racing pie crusts. Any help, comments, or ideas are greatly appreciated! (I am ready for a beating for starting another suspension thread also )
Check this post out. I think the way he did his front and rear suspension is the way to go on a model a build. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=677460
