I'm building a 29 coupe nailhead with 3 peddles (oh and a ST400 for knee therapy if needed hope not) I'm planning on using 35 36 rear wishbones and I'm keeping the stock configuration. My question is would it help to make it a 4 bar triangulation or would be too stiff. I've read a lot of post on here but haven't come across anything with 4 bar using the Ford bones. I know I stand a chance the bones will bend there damn nice ones and even have a spare pair. I'm wanting to keep them hanging on the wall. Yes I'm some what of a hoarder. Any input would be helpful Kevin

You want to use the 35-36 rear bones and add two more bars to make a four bar? You could use the 35-36 rears and beef them up, I have done a few sets, or add a torque arm.

  3. There have been a lot of threads here on the HAMB about adapting the original 28-48 torque tube suspensions to open drive lines.

There are a couple of general consensus here when it comes to using stock rear bones. First, they can be used but need help and second, they should never be spread out and mounted to the frame rails.

Here are some solutions that have been posted here:

The Rolling Bones use stock bones with top runners and cross braces to form ladder bars.

The Hot Rod Works uses a strut that runs from the top of the banjo center to the top of one of the bones at the transmission end.

Various builders have reinforced 36/36 bones with internal tubes and gussets.

Several builders have used sections of both front and rear bones as the bottom (exposed) link in a four bar system.

With a little searching a lot of relevant information is available here.

I guess I should have been more specific I really don't think the old bones will hold up. nailheads are noted for having big balls. The tranny a super T10 and a 9" will work well. I'm not really looking to alter the Ford product just wanting to help it or enhance its capabilities.Check the link below the rear end is just setting there and everything is bottoms up in the pics. ckick on the photo and open the small album.
