At the moment there is a 12 v supply to the pod.post and the meg and grd are looped together and wired to the body for grounding.
The needle flickers when power is turned on but doesn’t register any further. If I put a screwdriver against the face of the dial the needle reacts by waving about.
I’ve tried finding a specific diagram for it but can’t find anything that answers the question. upload_2020-11-14_9-41-39.jpeg

Thank you .... I had seen that one but it isn’t quite the same configuration. What is the difference between “ ground” and “ negative”??

It may be that the gauge is busted and I’m chasing my tail but just thought I’d try and see if I’m missing something first.

Try connecting NEG to the negative terminal of the battery, and POS to the positive terminal of the battery. Leave GRD disconnected for now.

    What happens?

If the needle doesn't move to display the voltage on the battery, then my guess is the meter is bad.

If you have a test multimeter, you could try measuring the resistance (OHMS) across the NEG and POS terminals. It should read some number perhaps in the thousands of ohms range. If it's infinite then the meter is bad, the windings are broken.
