Sometimes it's hard to plan a time that fits everyone's schedule. Last year, Jack and I car-pooled and that was okay. Neither his wife or mine cared to go. I really don't know what my plans will be this year. Stu
Im going, but dont know what day yet. Roger, check with Harry. I'll post when I know, perhaps we can meet up with some HAMBERS.
Hey, Roger, a lot of us saw your post we just didn't reply. We had a "field trip" of sorts last year, right from Chuck's - we all got in our cars and went to the show. It took some an hour, it took others several hours but we all made it! There was even a mini-HAMB relay that day....kustomlincolnlady lost her camera lens cover. PalosFV3 thought he saw a piece of black plastic in Chuck's parking lot. On the way to his shop he called Chuck's and asked a waitress to go out into the snow-covered parking lot to see if she could find it. She did, so PalosFV3 had his daughter stop by Chuck's, pickup the lens cover and bring it to the show later that afternoon! I'll be at the show on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the Chicago BrushMasters display. We've got about 70 stripers coming to produce items that will be auctioned to benefit Ronald McDonald House in Oak Lawn. I'll still make the HAMBreakfast on that Saturday morning, most likely with guests. Anybody heading to the first HAMB Meet & Eat (thanks, breeder!!) in Roscoe, IL this Saturday at noon? HAMB-on-the-Rocks should be a good time, a lot of folks have posted that they're coming. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=317716&highlight=hamb+on+the+rocks
Kankakee here; when I was a kid I was up that way alot.(grew up in Monee, hung out between So Chicago Heights, Markham and Duke's Drive in back in the 80s) Oh; can't forget Jack&Pats in Tinley, or Frosted Mug in Alsip.
Hey Palos Larry, are you planning on going to WOW from Chucks again? If so, lets car pool that morning. PM me.If its not 40 below zero, Ill see ya saturday. If anyone goes to the Rockford meeting, bring up the Byron Dragway meet and greet idea. I think that would be fun.
I think I may finally have a reprieve this Saturday and be able to make Breakfast. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Definately want ot go to WOW again this year! Jack
Hey Don, welcome to the group. I just went by Frosted Mug yesterday...there's a 4-sale sogn on it. Stu
I went by Frosted Mug on Monday and noticed the For Sale too! Didn't it get sold last year? New owner probably bit off too much.
Hey Jack, really cool avatar!!! Gina, Glo and I are going to Roscoe and then doing some exploring in the Beloit area. See you guys bright (I hope) and early Saturday morning.
Thanks Larry. About time I figured out the picture thing! I found an old abandoned farm when I did drive the dixie. The farm was on an old rural route down be Beecher. I'd like to go to Roscoe, but doubt I'll be able to get away from work for the whole day. With all the snow it seems like all we do is shovel, plow and move cars. Funny, I just delivered a Challenger to Roscoe about 2 weeks ago!
Hey guys , remember me? I know I havent been to breakfast for a coons age, but it's real hard getting up that early on my only day off. Are we going to the WOW as a group ? I know the HOT ROD HUKSTERS are playing on Saturday and David would like to hear Chad bend the strings. I would really like to go there with the whole bunch of HAMB & EGGERS as it would probably be more fun.Give a shout out , we could leave right after breakfast and maybe carpool so we would save on parking fees, I got that big ass van so I could take some of you with me(it seats 8). I'll see you FOR SURE on that Saturday AM at Chucky babys. Mike
I'm going to make a serious effort to be there. I may even do a whirl wind tour of Hamb and Eggs and then Hamb-on the-Rocks. (If I can drag my pale ass out of bed early enough, that is...)
Looks like we're coming out of hibernation for WOW next week. Cool.By the way, I think Danica Patrick is from Roscoe. Lefthander chassis/race car parts is there also. I buy some stuff from them. Great catalog.
Jeff had a great turnout for his first HAMB-on-the-Rocks yesterday! We had a fantastic time and met a lot of new people. He's planning another next month with a possible museum tour afterwards. I think a lot of you guys would really enjoy making it up there. Here's a link to his thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=317716 There are several pics and a link to that small museum. Greg: You're right... below the Village of Roscoe welcome sign it reads: Home of Danica Patrick. You also received a lot of interest in your Byron deal this summer, everyone thought it sounds like a lot of fun!!
Cool, as we get toward spring, Byron should post a schedule. We can pick a date and I'll set this up. Somebody more creative than me can come up with a name. HAMB and ?..........
"Hamb & Burnt Rubber!" For anyone that's interested, there's a huge tool sale this coming Sunday at the Tinley park Convention Center. (I80 & Harlem). I got a flyer the other day and there's a lot of name brand stuff. (It looks to be all New stuff).
mark will be on tv tonight @ 8:00 Comcast channel 271 for us living in Sunny Burbank, IL.Its the Discovery ID channel. titled Operation Ivan.
Dont have my copy yet, but I understand Fearless Leader Larry and Ina Mae are in Hot Rod magazine. Hunnert coverage. Cant wait.
Ok, Whats the plan for the WOW this weekend ? Breakfast ? Stop at my shop for tour and car pool parking ? Is there a HAMB Meet and Greet happening at WOW ? Interesting minds want to know . There was a little uproar about the Pile Up article in Hot Rod but I cant bitch. They even spelled my last name correctly.
I think I may skip WoW this year, just don`t feel like going...lol. So every make sure to take lotsa pictures to show me. I will be there Saturday morning though.
Going to Drag Expo on saturday, I'll set up the HAMB and ? event at Byron for us while there. Killing myself trying to fit brookville fenders on a 77 year old original ford. Move one corner 1/16, and the far edge moves 1/2.This is why I like highboys! Hope to see some of you sunday at WOW.
Interesting sentence... I'll be there Saturday morning with Glo, kustomlincolnlady and Rob. Rob insists on stopping to visit Ina Mae. I gotta be at the show by 10:00am so we may need to order the food a little earlier than usual so we have more time at Larry's shop. Talked with plowboy, Fritz and Dave Shuten at the setup yesterday, Dave and Fritz brought their kits and are gonna sling some paint with the Chicago BrushMasters. Looks like a lot of cool items headin' for the auction block. Dave VerSchave is donating an absolutely stunning gasser pedal car for the Saturday night sale. How about a HAMB Meet & Greet Saturday and Sunday at noon in front of the stage at the BrushMasters display?
