I met up with the Chicago breakfast crew yesterday, What a great group of people, Thanks for the welcome. I'll be back!!!
Just like to hear how what you guys got done this weekend. Palosfv3 was going to revisit the Buick, and Stu D Baker the Studebaker project. I worked on making a headlight bar and mounted some cowl lights, but spent most of the day looking for parts in the barn. I would have the roadster on the the road if I just worked quicker and quit changed the look so many times. Jim32
Got the hydramatic linkage to the carb set up right with a little fabricating. Next is to shove the chassis back under the body and bolt it on before R & R the inner and outer rocker panels. Rare grandkids in from MO visit so that's the rest of the story and why I missed breakfast yesterday.
Lot of progress on the Jeepster project. FUGLY is starting to finally come together, I think the reshaping the doors and changing the body line was worth the effort. I think I've finally passed body work 101. One thing for sure--I've ACED percerverance and stubborness 201!!! BILL RINALDI
Glo and I started painting (all day Saturday and all day Sunday)the entire inside of my house while it's still empty so I can finally get all my stuff outta the grach and into the house. Then I can get the coupe and the roadster into the grach and start workin' on 'em! Al, it was GREAT to meet you! Glad you could make it and hope you become a regular. This week we are going to have the pleasure of seeing Charlie Chops again! He's comin' to town with his buddy Phil to pickup some stuff from FoMoCoPower. Always a good time gabbin' with Charlie!
Missed you guys saturday. Just finishing the 32 fender project. Still have to tune up the original grille insert a bit.Maybe I can get the fenders back from paint next week.We all know about body men and painters.Worse than women.
No. It is obvoius by the abscense of a babushka on the woman in the background. If you notice the washer solvent bottle on the right side of the picture the rest is self explanatory.
I should have picked up on those little nuances! Damn, I always miss the good stuff! That and I have to work again Saturday. Believe it or not we're still busy selling cars. Waiting for the other shoe to drop. Jack
Might be lonely on Sunday. Come on SATURDAY 7:00 a.m. 79th & Central, Chuck's BBQ. Hope to see you. Stu
What a great turn out this morning! 17 earlybirds. Great to see OldCarMike, Charlie Chops, his copilot Phil, George from the Rockford group, and last but not least our newest repeat offender Al. Charlie passed around a photo book of his 31 Vicky he found back in the mid 70's. Nice material for a traditional build circa 1975. Our beloved OldBobSign has had a lot of time on his hands last week and started thinking about an avatar for the SW HAMB and Eggs social group. It seems he wants me to find a appropriate photo for the avatar. Are you shure you want to do that ? Me in charge of it that is . How about some suggestions from the group? I'm thinking? Perogis , grape jelly, stickers , toupe adhesive , lap dancing for starts. Balls in your court. The group is sad. They miss dear old Blktie. It seems they are working him to hard at the dealership . The guys suggested maybe having breakfast at the Bettenhausens one Saturday in the near future. We figure after one time dealing with this group they may give him weekends off for the rest of the season. Any one headed to the BOCP Swap tomorrow at the Du Page Co. Fairgrounds ???
I had a good time and am NOW (5:45 PM) just getting hungry for dinner. I ate nothing since breakfast. Great food and lots of it as well as too many conversations to listen to. I'll be back for sure. See all of you in two weeks.
Had a hell of good time, good to see old friends & meeting some new ones. The drag strip get together will be a blast. Later, George
That was fun. I had to let the belt out a notch after breakfast. Up way too early...was crapped out by 9:30 in the evening. Jimmie - thanks for the wheels. Larry - nice to meet your partner - she'll whip you into shape in no time. Nice chatting with everyone. Phil had a good time showing off his collection of projecys. Charlie
Breakfast at Bettenhausen.......Jack needs to get us into the Autobahn some nice summer day. Great to see the out of town guys. I can barely get up in time to make 7am, cant imagine driving from Belvidere or Michigan and making it! I'll quit complaining.
Hey everyone . I'm starting a SW Chicago HAMB & Egg thread on the HAMB & Egg Social group page. Please post your avatar ideas and pics there . This way I can get something together. This pic could be a start. Also, one of the reasons Ryan did the new upgrades was to be able to organize threads into categories. He has been very patient with this thread being that it would be considered OT ( not really car related ) for the most part. With that being the case it would be considerate of us to post car and recruitment related material on this main board and to move the BS conversations to the SW HAMB & Egg Social Group page. I'll attach a link on the Social page that will reference this thread for keeping the old memories available. Link to the new thread. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=309
We were recently honored to welcome our first international SW Chicago HAMB and Egger. Andy Remnant (REM) from Oxford, UK. We heard about his '34 Tudor and I overheard a few parts "deals" being discussed. Thanks for taking the time and effort to stop by Andy!
Was happy to finally make it to Chucks this morn. Glad to meet you guys and gals. See ya' soon...............
Couldn't think of an easier way to tell you guys that to post this link in this thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=391162
Hey , shes not mad at you anymore. New message on the Social page, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?do=discuss&discussionid=309&pp=20&page=14
Hey guys, Operation HAMB Christmas 2009 is faltering so far. There's a sticky at the top of the main page but not too many seem to have noticed. Next Thursday at Hot Rod Chassis and Cycle's "Adult Beverage Night" we're going to "stuff" some care packages to send overseas. This is the same deal that Capt. Frank Wharton emotionally thanked us all for during the Meet & Greet at the Pile-Up last month. Since the SW Chicago HAMB & Egger's have always risen to the occasion I wondered if anyone would want to come help or at the very least donate some items. They're especially short of food items. Here's the list of what they need: -T-Shirt's -DVD's -Shaving cream -Tooth Brushes -Tooth Paste -Mouthwash in a plastic container -Floss -Chap Stick -Deodorant/Antiperspirant -Combs -Powdered Drink Mix -Disposable Razors -Gum -Eye drops -Ear drops -Bug Spray (OFF Deep Woods towelettes) -Toilet paper (single rolls or travel size) Food, Snack items -Tuna, Vienna sausages, sardines, etc (small cans) -Dry powder drink mixes (small or individual) -Jelly (small/no glass) -Any type small can goods -Tea bags (all varieties), coffee packs/bags (individual) -Fruit snacks (Roll-ups, raisins, dried fruits (small) etc.) -Peanuts, trail mix, etc (small packs) -And last but not least because there is NEVER enough: Slim Jims/Beef Jerky I have a Chicago BrushMasters workshop this Saturday at the Midwest Hot Rods Open House in Plainfield. I still plan on coming to breakfast though so if you can't make it to HRC&C and you have anything to contribute please bring it along Saturday and I'll get it up to Addison on Thursday. I've got to be to Midwest around 8:30am so I'm ordering burnt toast early and then scooting. Hoping to have Glo, da tinman and Alex with me, too. Midwest's Open House is from 9:00am-4:00pm on Saturday. It's a cool deal, they open the shop and let you poke around all you want. We're expecting about 20 stripers to join us over in a corner to work on panels for the Ronald McDonald House Charitiy Auction. So if you're up to it, stop by and snoop.
