Technical SW Mech Temp Gauge

I have a SW mech temp gauge with an unbroken capillary line but there is about one foot of it that has had the insulation come off it.

If I wrapped it in some wire insulation and elec tape would this suffice?

 

It is not for insulation ,rather protecton. A lot of mechinical temp gauges have a coil spring looking armor/shield on them. It will work that way just fine.
