SW made most of their tachs in the '48-'54 years (the era of the wings) in a mechanical design. Easy to drive off a distributor, or maybe a crank or generator drive if you can find one.

Some electric tachs were also made, but the drive is engine-specific and difficult to find, as well as being expensive when you do. I don't recommend buying an electirc tach thinking you have found the easy way out. Plus you have the 6V vs 12V thing to worry about.

As an aside, I have a crank drive from an early hemi (old Chrysler) powered hot rod that almost bolted directly on my flathead Ford. All I had to do was elongate two holes slightly with a file and make a new bolt for the front of the crank to accept the square drive cable. But, these kind of drives are also kind of hard to find. Distributors with drives built in are much easier to find.
