Hot Rods Swap meet score & question

Bought this at the swap meet in Des Moines for 25 bucks and would like to know what it is off of? any ideas?

30-31 Chevy I think

 

I would guess Mercury but I really don't know. Kind of neat.

 

A search shows that Dreddybear hit it right. I found a couple like it in expired Ebay adds by searching for 31 Chevrolet hood ornament.

Thanks guys for the home work on this cool piece. It is something I will keep for myself as I think it is cool. Might even set it up so I can run it on a deuce shell.

At the Good Guys Des Moines show I too found an original 32 ford locking hub cap for $40.- with the bigger portion of the anchoring strap but missing the lock cylinder & internal latch mechanics which I'm hoping to have on another donor cap .....it sorta, makes a guys day.
