So I'm swapping out the 235 straight 6 in my 53 Chevy for a 235 out of a pick-up. Checking the numbers on the block told me that it was a later model. Has anyone else done this and can you tell me what you had to modify or change to make it work in your car. I bought the short water pump and pulley. I know I have to go to the muffler shop so they can bend the pipes to fit with my Williams dual exhaust manifold. I'd like to see some pictures if possible

I dont have any photos but you are right on the money so far. Might have some little things to do like fuel line etc but thats normal easy stuff. the motor mounts are different. They are close but they are different. I know of 2 options: modify the 58-62 mounts - it will be self explanatory when you lower it into the chassis. Or tom Langdon might have some mounts you can use that does this. he did several years ago but I dont know if he still carries them

There is a difference in the flywheel teeth and starter motors between 6 volt models and 12 volt units.
If your vehicle is 6 volt, use the old flywheel and starter. If you are converting to 12 volt, you could use the 6 volt stuff, but were it me, I would then use the 12 volt parts.

Where is the water pump on each one the later one will have the water pump in the block and the earlier one may have it outside the block and higher, this will be a problem with the fan to radiater.

Thanks fellas, I did everything and the only thing I need to do is get a fan spacer and then I should be good. I addressed every issue you guys mentioned.
