Many of you have been following my front clip and body restoration of the 55 Club Sedan. I did have a question about the sway bar. I do have a very good 56 Ford Station Wagon Sway bar (obviously larger in diameter) to fit to the front end to make the handling better. This is an upgrade that many people have done. However I do not have the brackets that came with the sway bar. Are the brackets the same? The reason I ask is that I know the rubber blocks/bushings must be different to fit the larger diameter sway bar. Also, what about the bolt kit that attaches the sway bar to the control arm... is that the same kit for both p***enger car and wagon?
You might contact Dave with drop'em and Stop'em. Great guy. He did a sway bar for me, complete kit. He may be able to help you.
Actually you can get the brackets and end links locally O'Reilly's and Pep Boys and Autozone all carry Energy Suspension much better than rubber get the ones you can lube, here is the link to look up the part numbers to take with you and how to measure for them:http://www.energysuspensionparts.com/table-catalog.asp
Please post a few pictures of the bushings that you purchased for the station wagon sway bar, I need to buy some for my wagon sway bar. The Ford books only list one bushing for the '55 and '56's, same part number for all p***enger cars. How can that be? the wagons use a bigger diameter bar.
let me see if I can dig up a link. The energy suspension website is where you need to go. edit: http://www.energysuspensionparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=9.5158
