Has anyone actually used an '86 T-bird front sway bar on their '54 Ford? I have seen posts about it but no one has posted anything about installing one or any mods that have to be made. If anyone has, please let me know. Thanks in advance.
I think it's the same one that fits the 55 & 56 too . I think the difference will be the front mounts . I think you need to drill some new holes in the from for it to fit . I was told by someone else so I am p***ing along the information . keep us informed on how it turns out ! Jim
I'm not too worried about drilling new holes in the frame, my main concern is the width and tire interference when cornering. I've heard of guys heating and bending sway bars to fit, but I'm not sure about heating spring steel, will it change the charicteristics of the steel, etc. Anyway, I will take some measurements and head down to the local pick-a-part and see if I can find a mid-80's T-bird.
My 55 has the aftermarket sway bar offered by Thunderbirdranch in TX. It is over an inch, and works great. It bolts in all the stock places and clears everything.
Hey "Ole don" i've searched for the Thunderbirdranch and i can't find anywhere the sway bar you've got, any help on locating one for my 54? Thanks!
I got the same one ole don has..its an inch and 1/8 thick..bolt on. Its tbird southwest if I remember right, google it and call them, thei website don't list it but they have it.
www.thunderbirdssouthwest If you mess around in the website, you may still be able to find a link to local history, "The Greatest Little ***** House in Texas", a movie was made about it. Easy people to do bsiness with.
Ummmmm, please let me re-word the last part I wrote. The easy people to do business with sell Ford parts over the phone!!!!!
