I did a search and I couldn't find the answer so here goes , I'd like to be able to swing out the windshield on my roadster when I have the top on for some added breeze while driving. The cones don't seem to get tight enough and eventually at speed the windshield closes back up. Any body ever tried to set these up similar to a closed car? Any body have any pics for inspiration? I know it doesn't really make sense when the tops off but when it's on it would help. Thanks

I used to set a roll of duct tape between the dash/cowl and the windshield on my 29 roadster to hold it open.....when not using it there , it worked as a drink holder on the floor! Pretty classy , but it worked and was simple

I'll be watching this one for an answer to that one too!
I am having the same problem, and I have a filled cowl vent.

Don't know, seems like they should have had the side adjusters like on the closed cars

What about some star washers between the windshield and the post, think that would work?

  14. A freind had an all original 32 roadster - I mean ALL original, never been restored type. I remember riding around with his grandad and the windshield had no trouble staying open. I wonder if the original hardware was just better at the friction game.

  15. Perhaps if the sloppy cones had some kind of rubber in there to take up some slop and give grip?

I made some cones and got some that would hold. Guess what. I started bending the frame. I might open it around town but never at speed.

  17. I have the same problem and no cowl vent.
Easiest solution is to prop it open. Have used a roll of black electrical tape which works. Also some black rubber piece a couple inches thick - found on the ground at the Pull A Part lot. It all works ...

Have you got the wave washers that go under the wing nuts?

  19. Tie a towel around each windshield post and that will keep the windshield open.
