first off - AMAZING show - I do shows all over the country and this one was one of the best - had the weather been a bit better - then it would have been really really great - cause I know about 10 cars from the Chicago and Milwaukee are that did not make it up due to the bad weather on Sat morn.

I totally understand why they did not come........

and if I know about 9-10 cars that did not show up............there may have been another 50 that thought about coming that woke up and saw the red cells on the radar and decided - uh - NO - I dont have a top on my car or I dont have wipers that work - therefore I am staying at home.

But I gotta tell ya - this show is going to be one of THE premiere events in the country

the location is just - well - historic

step back in time 50 years

    that is it -

fits with the traditional rods like a glove

Mike worked his ass off as well as the volunteers

I really hope that more car clubs can participate next year - I know the Vagabonds were there, Chrome Czars had some representation, but I really think the Lucky Bastards would enjoy this show as well as The Cheaters.

Next year will be amazing and I am lucky that I was at the first one!

as for the above post stating that Ol Skool Rods is doin a story - dont hold your breath - just because a free lance photographer is out there covering the event does NOT mean that Alan or Geno are gonna find room for this show in the final mix of things...............SHOULD it be in the magazine?
    YES

but they got a LOT of people submitting pix and articles to them and they get to choose which they feel are worthy and which are not.........so dont feel slighted if it doesnt show up - its just that there are only so many pages in a magazine..........

I hope to see ya'll again this weekend

Thanks John.....told ya it was worth coming! :):):)

Rick and I talked with OSR and they sent out the gal to check it out. One of the guys took a look at it right after Iola. I am sure we will see something in there. I know of at least 3 or 4 people writing articles for it.

I still want to know if that was really Dennis Gage from My Classic Car that Fiddy and Gerg saw????????? Anyone else see him? They both saw him separate and up close, so it wasn't like they just saw him drive by. Please, someone tell me you saw him on the grounds!?!?!?!

Yeah, working hard on trying to get some vids up.....soon. I gotta go back to work one of these days and make some $$$

Thanks for the offer to stripe the Lincoln!!! I REALLY wanted you to but I just had no time to get it out of the front of the grounds and over to you. I moved it once to the main drag and was going to talk with you about it but just ran out of time. I got maybe 10 hours of sleep from Tuesday to Sunday.

When do you want to take care of picking up the engine for your kid? We could have it ready this weekend for you possibly.

For those of you who don't know, Web's kid won the engine we gave away!!!'

    It's a bad ass 327.

I agree 100% I've been telling my buddies the same thing.

Hats off to all who made it a happen! Hopefully next year my family commitments will allow me to spend several days there instead of several hours.

This show rocked and it was the first time the '54 made a trip longer than 30 miles and it ran like a dream. Symco Shakedown 001.jpg

I loved hanging out with everyone and running into a ton of old friends. Awesome!
    Dan: No call. WTF?
Cole: That car is going to be a BEAST! Make it cool!

cliffy, i want to tell you again how much of a blast we had at the shakedown you guys did a fuckin killer job. you should have seen the look on the hotel owners face on friday when me and pete came rippin ass into the parking lot with the T-bucket while it was pouring rain. he was a cool guy he let pete park it under the canopy in front of the doors while it was raining so it would stay dry. thanks again you can bet we will be back next year.

DW had the Presidential Suite, I just had a regular room so she might have more feedback..

Seriously though the hotel was super close, the price was right, and it was dry. I don't ask for much more so I thought it was ok because I was by myself and it was so close to the show, but if you are a little more picky or if you have your girlfriend, wife or kids with you, you might want to drive a little further for a newer place. When DW was making her reservation on the phone, she told the owner that she worked for The Westin... he said "Well, you might not want to stay here then" hahah.

Breeder and his family stayed somewhere 12-13 miles away and said the hotel was nice, but no pool (which the kids usually like to have).

  24. Yeah I mean the hotel was close and it was better than camping.

that's pretty much all I can say.

I will never camp, and I am a drunk, so there you have it. I would not risk booking a hotel further away. But if you are NOT a drunk like me then by all means, make the drive.

At least the owner was very nice.

So for those of us who didn't make it, what was the turn out, how many cars and how many people?

Figures still coming in. we estimate 3000 people, 250 cars, 90 camp sites, 30+ swappers and 30 commercial vendors.....oh yeah 3+ inches of rain!!!

Rain would have destroyed any other car show. You guys are the best!!!

We paid ALL our bills and had some left over. Not sure how much yet, but I am sure it is enough to get us rolling for next year.

They ran out of Brats, used about 350 lbs of burger. Went through 8 kegs by Sat morning, sold more PBR then their show(which had 6700 spectators). I sold out of T-shirts (300). They were going to close the bar between 7 and 9 each night(they were worried about drunk hot rodders, LOL) and it was open until 12:30-1am all three nights.

The bars uptown told me that we tipped well and were VERY well behaved.

It went so smooth you can't imagine! We are VERY welcome back. Thank you everyone!!!!!

We have some super leverage for doing full blown show for next year. They didn't even scratch the surface on showing us their cool shit. I have some stuff planned for next year that will blow your mind!

Best show I've ever been to -- you'll never get a vibe from any other setting like you get there. It was easy to be respectful when you are in complete awe to all the Americana there was on those grounds. All the guys from the Thresheree Club were very welcome to questions about anything and were even full of plenty themselves.

When can I get tickets for next year!!

Thanks Krooser and Cliffy for an excellent weekend !!!

(I don't think you guys know what you have got yourselves into, Larry's gonna have to buy another 40 acres -- J.Kiddin)
