I have a good friend who is planning to do this install. He has the appropriate adaptor and an S-10 T-5. He is wondering if anyone has done this swap and what problems did they run into. Problems such as transmission tunnel clearance issues and crossmember problems. Cutting a hole in the floor for the shifter is obvious. Any help would be appreciated.
Measure where the shifter comes out, the S10 T5 shifter is on the tail shaft housing and pretty far back. I was going to use one in a Model A with a flathead and it interfered with the seat.
Here's some research material for ya' : https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/transmission-t5-tech-links.169265/.
Depends on the rig it came out of. Mine came out of a 2 wheel drive, 6 cyl, S10. Shifter is as far forward as possible on the tail shaft.
Yes, I have one in my '32 and the shifter location is fine. My question is about the transmission tunnel clearance on a '49-'51 shoebox Ford. Anyone done one of these?
My Pops is putting one in his 33’ roadster, he just drilled out the original cross member, saved it, Fabbed up a new one. 33-34 is pretty tight, and a flat floor with a little tunnel bump! Im sure a shoebox would be a piece of cake!
I know this was a while ago but curious how it turned out. Did you guys end up getting it in? Run into any issues?
