Block sanded the body today. Will shoot primer again tomorrow morning. My little girl was helping me too.

 

Looks like she is on break. 15 is up, get back at it!

 

She's doing wet sanding with the sippy cup!

How's the driveline coming along?

 

The ch***is is 90% done. Still need to mount the fuel tank and run the fuel line. Also need to make a battery box and mount the e-brake handle. Then it's ready to wire, mount carbs, generator , etc. I plan on test firing before the body is on but it should be good to go.

 

Body back in primer. Time to block sand.

Tim, just read the entire thread you are doing an amazing job mate, always good to see a car being brought back from the dead and done right, keep up the good work.

Work is keeping progress from being steady. I had planned to take a weeks vacation this month to get a bunch of work knocked out but I've had to cancel. Getting it drivable in time for the hill climb is fading fast. I haven't given up yet though.

Anyway. Here is some progress I got done on Sunday. Did some paint trials. Painted the firewall and cowl vent. I used DuPont centari. I put on the first coat according to the mix instructions, let it get tacky then sprayed again but mixed with twice the reducer. It laid down very smooth.





Not the best pictures, but you get the point. It didn't quite flow out like urethane, but close. It will achieve the look I'm going for.

Also did a lot of blocking on the body, still have a lot to do.

At it again today. I skipped the hamb drags so I could keep working.
I primed the body again after I had blocked the whole body. I will lightly block it again and it will be ready for paint.
I also painted the underside today.
I also laid the frame welting and poked holes for the body bolts, mounted the fuel tank and ran some fuel line, and started making the battery box.
Since I'm not in Joplin 1/2 in the bag, I will be up early tomorrow sanding again. My goal is to paint the body next Saturday.

My 48 ragtop will be next. But, I will probably work on the other 32 also just to get it rolling with drivetrain mocked up.

 

My wife wants this done today so she's out helping do final prep for paint.

 

That, or she is writing FOR SALE on it.

 

I see a serious problem coming. When the little people grow up there's gonna be a problem as to who gets to drive it to the prom. When I let my son take my big block 54 chev pu to the prom many years later I learned he won the burn out contest. Great build. A 3 window 32 has always been my dream.

 

Haha, she is smarter than that. She will wait until it's done cause she knows it will bring more.

Shot some paint this weekend. I painted it outside so it has a little dirt in it. I should have taken the time to build a booth in the shop, but I figured I was going to color sand and buff anyway.
