My T Bucket is a sort of mutt, body and chassis wise. I used a Total Performance chassis with a CCR body. I got an offer I couldn't refuse on the CCR body and went for it. But the problem I had was that a CCR body won't fit a TP chassis. I had to move the body forward 2" and raise it 1". If you look really close at my pics, you can spot the I" raise where the firewall meets the frame rails.

I'm getting a metal firewall in a couple months and it'll hide it.

Also, the TP chassis is made to use an electric fan for cooling because of the engine to radiator gap. I eventually went to a manual fan, but had to use a 3" spacer to move the fan closer to the radiator. I HATE that 3" spacer, but I wanted my car to run cool. So, I bit the bullet. I hate electric fans on open hood cars. My pet peeve.

Mine are under the seat, bolted to the frame. I leave it up to my passengers, whether or not they want to use them. I don't. I just don't want to be strapped to a 'glass car during a good hit. Plus, a hit hard and belts wouldn't make a difference. And I've been in a wreck in mine without wearing belts.

    My opinion and mine alone.

I have a brand new set of lap belts from a 747 that I bought from another Hamb member.

I like them, not sure they are up to automotive service but I'll put them in my T RPU anyway :)

They will look kinda neat with my bomber seats.

You are right, Fred, it really boils down to personal choice. I always wear one in my daily driver and make my passengers buckle up too, but I once saw a picture of Megan's blue bucket after it slammed sideways into that guardrail and the fact she would have eaten that guardrail if she hadn't been tossed into the grass convinced me.

I realize I could be killed by flying out of my car, but I have just made the personal choice to go this route.

I moved the body forward three inches. All part of second generation build. Actually had to move the radiator and grill forward a couple of inches to give room for the bigger engine.

What is a good over all length of a T? If you go small block or big block? I kind of like them not really long and kind of short. I feel like I just described the perfect woman ahaha.

With a turtle deck I like about 100-103 inches to give a bit more room for the rear wheels to go back a touch. If we're talking short pickup beds, about 100 for a 20" bed, and 96 for a 14" bed.

Thanks louvers and if I dont run a turtle deck I wont run a bed...as of yet they have not grown on me.

So I take 96 inches would be good with out a bed or maybe a tad shorter?

Nah, 96" is about as short as you really want to go. Packaging gets kinda tight and much less and you run out of room for a gas tank.

Okey here is what I know or what I think I know. Grabowski's Lightnin Bug Black) version of his T was probably 101" w.b. Ivo told me his T had a 101" w.b. and I think Norms first black version was what Ivo copied. Both had the rear A spring mounted on top of the rear axle as in Model A's. When Norm changed his T to the Kookie Kar version he changed the differential to a later version with the spring mounted behind the axle which shortened the w.b. to 96" That is the version I copied and mine has a 96" w.b. If you want a shorter w.b. such as in Roth's Tweetie Pie (sorry don't have a picture) it makes it kinda cute (thus the name).

Thanks louvers I couldnt remember the lengths and thought 90s might be cutting it really short.

This has been a great thread and I hope it keeps going. The info of bodies, build process and more has been a lot of knowledge to take in and very good to have.

Thanks Rebel I really dig those cars and yours. The Roth car always looked really short didn't know the wheel base. I like it but not sure I like it enough to try and build one that short. thanks for posting the pics too I'm going to save those.

Don I love your bucket man! I have seen it a few times in some other post I believe and I really love it. Tell me the colors you have going on? That is a super nice clean bucket.

Hey Scott those C cabs look nice. I'm not much into them but they do look good.

We do build them anyway customers order them. I like the lowered look myself, It's just not a good selling point , Most guy's wives donot want to climb in.

The 90 wheel base is not bad looking it just makes it look different. I'm torn now if 90 or 96 and even 100 inch wheel base is where I want to be.

Don's 100 wheel base T is making me think that is where I need to be. I wonder what Genes was?

When I get the body, motor, trans, turtle deck (if I run one) and gas tank I will then map out my frame and wheel base. I will try and do the frame myself and if I can't I will find someone to do it.

I'm also on the fence right now if I want to channel it 3" or not. I have been thinking of either not doing it at all or going 1 1/2 inches but not sure if that will look strange or if it will affect the interior room the same as going 3".

Still learning as I go but learning a lot.

I agree with you I love that bucket. Don's and Gene's are two buckets I'm in love with and the look of them both is just very cool.

Don tell us more about it.

Only thing I'd change is I'd run a 347 Ford. But I'm a born Ford guy.

    A 347? A Y Block is more appropriate :)

I'm still looking for motors and rear ends. Can I use a 9" rear out of a four wheel drive Ford?

It is crazy the price if stuff in my area.

That's gonna be a bit wide unless it's the little Ranger or Bronco stuff. Your looking to stay in the 56" range from hub to hub.

Ok yeah so far what I have found are the F150 stuff. I also found a Mach 1 mustang rear that is on Craigslist from time to time.

I also found a Jag with a 350/350 conversion for $900 I have thought about calling and seeing if there is room on it. I think it's an 87 or 88 Jag.

Quick question. I know the LT1 and LT4 motors are 350's can they be made to look like a stock chevy 350? I found one but not sure if I can make it not look modern or what the difference is if any in a regular 350 but I think it is. I have a Vette with the LT4 option in 96.

Maybe more "appropriate" but it would not be cheaper.
