anybody have close ups of the suspension on this one? or better yet, the Grabowski or Ivo Ts this suspension appears to be modeled after? with tube axle, reversed perches and welded four bar brackets.
Check out the Dean Batchelor's book "The American Hot Rod". It has a story with pictures of the Bob Estes T roadster. This roadster here is a dead ringer for Estes's ride. The story is that in the '30's Estes beat Errol Flynn's Duesenburg in a street race with his hot T. I always liked the look of that car, and I too am not a Model T fan. Steve
I had a post on this not to long ago. There is a web site called tbucket.com. Has thousands of pics. Some traditional some not. Check it out if you get a chance. monkey
thanks for the pictures Mutt, makes for a pretty clean setup.. what was he thinking with those shock mounts though? quite a bit cruder than the rest of the design..
It think this post about the "T's" is great. Because I have this to add......here it goes..... The Super Secret Project is out now!! For all of you guys who are as obsessed with the Kookie Car as I am.... As a tribute to Norm, I am cloning the car again, but when it was called the "Lightening Bug". We started the project about 4 months ago and here is the progress as we stand today. Hope to have the project done and debute the car at Fathers Day Pomona show in June of 2006. Will keep you all posted as we keep going! Endsville Von Franco
Man...thats great! Thats the version of Norms bucket that I like...back when it WAS Norms T and not the "Kookie T"! Looking forward to the progress on this one for sure...
It's a '23 Dodge touring with a model A box, owned by Jim Miller of Portland, Ore. These pictures are from Oct. '55 HRM, it was later featured with a DeSoto motor for drag racing. I don't remember it being in Dobie Gillis, but I didn't see the movie, and I am old , so that doesn't mean anything. The body was given to him by Earl Rowland, who had another famous T at one time - Tommy Ivo's. Mutt
Mutt thoes are the real headers off the car and there are in perfect shape I will also have the orignal shift nob from that verson............................... Endsville V.F.
This little beauty showed up at the gathering of the faithful in Marion MA in October. This is trad all the way. Belongs to Frank the Barber.
here's mine, again started out like this, was collecting junk to make one but sold the body, wheels, motor and transmission kept the frame got another body, wheels, motor and transmission and ended up with this
Burny, that is one kool little T!! They all are. Thanks for posting pics, but I still haven't decided what direction I want to go. Still in the planning stages. So far, mine is just a pile of parts and a collection of mental images. My philosophy is, why not use up some of those old parts and build a T. A buddy of mine has a steel 1919 with a dual quad nailhead, built by a member of the MSRA back in '62. He let me drive it to a couple shows one summer, and I've been hooked ever since. So far, my pile of parts include a Red Ram Hemi, T5 trans (like I said, spare parts), and a 57 Chev rear. I'm looking for a reasonably priced steel body, and I plan on building the frame from scratch. There's nothing kooler than driving an open car!
O.K. I got the picture that I'd talked about in one of my earlier posts. Fur Biscuit e-mailed it to me. Big thanks man, that car is IT! I don't know how well it will transfer, but I'll try. He told me that it's a pic that was posted on the Hamb. Does anyone recognoze it? Any info?
I didn't read this thread previously because I'm accustomed to "t bucket" meaning "fad T", and those don't interest me. But shit, boy, you're talking about ROADSTERS! Why dincha say so? I think Fur Biscuit's avatar car belonged to Multy Aldrich, who was some sort of SCTA official back in the day. Every picture I've ever seen of that car was shot at Bonneville. And doesn't Mark Morton's T roadster resemble Gabby Garrison's pretty closely? Or maybe it's the same car? Von Franco: YAAAY! I've always liked that earliest version of Norm's car best; props to you for recreating it! Here's mine (again, and built by Larry Mitchell):
50Fraud- Damn! That is sweet...I dig the belly pan...The blister has be wondering what your running in it...also you running cross steering?
That's my buddy's car. I just talkeed to him and he's doing a closed-cab '24 pick-up for a guy. Wires, bias plies, 2x3 frame, Nailhead w/2 4's. Should be cool.
