  1. I'm trying to figure out what you were doing with that lathe set-up and how it worked?

Like your project(s) by the way. What part of BC?

I needed to thread the ends of the ladder bar tubing. It's slightly too large to fit through the headstock. So I clamped it in a V block to the tool post once. Had the tube centered on the live center. Then I could pull the tailstock back and use the live center to keep the tap straight. Make sense?

    I'm in Parksville

IMG_1197.JPG Yet another small update from the world of decrepit used hot rod parts! Got all the nastiness filled and ground out of the original front spring mount. Had to make a new center. The old one had lot of torch work done to it.

IMG_1200.JPG A little closer. That speedway spring needs to down to three leaves I think. Way too stiff now.

Not my first rodeo. It's way to stiff.

  6. I like the traditional method of "mockup" to build your projects. Noticed the dual pattern Turbo 350, used one in my Model A roadster with Buick 225 V6 way back. That was a mock up build too.

Absolutely! Unless your building something from kit plans or have built the same thing three or more times everything needs to be mocked up before final, unless of course you like cutting things apart three or four times! Lol

I don't know anything about Chevy stuff, usually I avoid them but for $350 for a rebuilt motor and a complete trans with chrome pan I couldn't say no. Is there something special about the dual pattern trans?

  9. Nothing special, other than you have choice of pretty much any GM engine to go in front.

Wheelies are fun ! man your car is awesome ! love the panel paint too . I can't imagine doing wheelies in this thing without wheelie bars, i think the thing would flip over! doesn't look like your car has them, you must have balls bigger than church bells ! 4gth4h.jpg

IMG_1305.JPG IMG_1306.JPG IMG_1308.JPG IMG_1310.JPG Fitted the king pin bushings and got the spindles ready to make it a roller. I ream one to fit the small pin first and bump the ream up to do the second one. I fit them with about .0002 of clearance. They just pound in with the ball of my fist.

I was working on a car. Said it wasn't my first rodeo. Looked at the car - ISUZU RODEO. It was my first rodeo!

Chassis is looking great. Hope you don’t channel the body over the frame…more mechanical look with the body sitting on top of the frame and the frame showing, and more interior room too!

Pulled out my hand dandy "pipe squisher" and built a trans cross member. My welds turn out a lot better when I remember to put my glasses on before the helmet... IMG_1354.JPG IMG_1355.JPG

@A Boner i have this horrible idea in my head to build this int a C cab delivery with an actual steel body, and definitely not channeling it.

IMG_1356.JPG 69906034339__381CEFFF-6091-4568-BC14-280DD76ACE2A.JPG I got these old fibreglass buckets from a friend years ago. They should look perfect in a T. They are super cool just too narrow for my hip bones. I'm going to try and widen them a couple inches. Wish me luck....

IMG_1369.JPG IMG_1370.JPG Fooling with little side project. Replaced the reflectors in a very old set of steel backed sealed beams. Used some off a set of cheap H4's. Modern lights in a vintage look.

Finnaly got enough time to finish up the headlight buckets and get the mounts on. Still need grinding and adjusting. But you get the idea.

IMG_1391.JPG IMG_1392.JPG Picked up a couple of parts at a local swap. I think they will work great on the T. I am going to revamp the project and change things around a bit. All for the better.

I sure miss having a Bridgeport mill at my disposal. Had to build a little cutter to re do the washer spot faces.

IMG_1405.JPG IMG_1406.JPG I guess I need to move the motor up an inch or so. Exhaust collectors won't fit and no room for steering..

It’s about that point when you say to yourself “oh, that’s why everyone runs makes headers out the side”

lol good progress even if it’s kinda… sideways.

Very true, but it still doesn't leave room for a steering box and I love a challenge...

IMG_1662.JPG IMG_1667.JPG IMG_1668.JPG Been a while since I updated this thread. Lot s on the go lately life wise. New job means I have more time off which means I actually had a whole day in the garage today! (It's my Sunday, even though it's Tuesday. I work 4 days a week. )

As I spent the day cleaning and putting away junk I actually managed to spend several hours on the T project. (Notice I changed the title of this thread?) I don't have time to build 2 T's or the space so it sold off the dropped 34 axle with the speedway spring and decided to use all the good stuff on one chassis and hope fully build a neat "show car" inspired T C cab out of it.
I got a lightly used A mono leaf from a friend and used the stainless bat wings I had with new stainless shackles and chrome perch pins. I've had a chunk of thin way stainless tube in my stash for years for this very reason. I want to extend the cheap 4 link bars about a foot and will sleeve them with the stainless. Should look neat. Haven't decided on hemi joints or tie rod ends yet. Needs to be cheap and shiny! Front axle will actually go down and inch or so.
Rear is going to come up a bunch! And it needs to go back about 4" . Should be about 107" wheelbase.
I set the firewall in place. I like the height but it needs narrowed 5" to match the early cowl top I have. Good thing it's not a restoration.
It might be cobbled together junk but I think it has potential. All I need is a million dollars worth of chrome....

Been "hit" with a slow down.

Crashed hard on my mountain bike and hit a stump with my arm and dislocated my shoulder. Been a bit of a rough week. Going to be a few weeks before I have enough strength to do much in the garage.
