I walked out, it wasn't far. It doesn't hurt much. It just kinda burns a bit. Has zero strength and I can't lift my arm up much.

I feel your pain. Back issues for years, slows progress at the most inopportune times. Take care of the shoulder and get in the garage and skip the bike for a few weeks.

IMG_1742.JPG IMG_1744.JPG Still suffering with aftermath of my bike crash. But I did manage to get some stuff done yesterday and today. Slow going and had to take. A lot of breaks but I managed to get most of the cab sheet metal cut out and ready to start forming. Copied the SW bosun panel for the rear window shape. I need one of my kids home for a day to help bead roll the parts. Some of the OG parts are not from the same years. Gonna take a little figuring out.

Physiotherapy for my messed up shoulder. Repeated pushing and pulling actions! The mini English wheel is a piece of shit but for $100 with 8 anvils it works ok. I need to beef up the frame a bit. IMG_1746.JPG IMG_1745.JPG

Started tacking some junk together to see where it sits. I'm going to fit the windshield tomorrow and test fit the down to the frame.
I had my daughter and 80 year old neighbor help get the beads done on the back panel. Good thing most of them will be covered! My arm is still not in good enough shape for this. It might not be for a few months IMG_1753.JPG IMG_1754.JPG

I'm wondering if I should lean the back panel backwards, or angle the bottom to match the kick in the frame. Opinions? Not sure if leaning it back will look goofy.

  11. Thinking the back and the lower corners of C cabs should be square when seen from the side.

I also think when viewed from the side , the back looks best straight up and down,
Like an old original delivery truck.
I've thought of building one of these and am excited to see how you do it.
Keep up the good work Dumprat!

Big steps today. Started putting together the tube structure for the cab. The back panel is just tacked on at this point. Cowl still needs to go down 1/2" and the windshield is getting chopped another 1-1/4" I think. Motor needs to move ahead 1-1/2" and up at least an inch. Rear axle needs hung and moved back 2" IMG_1763.JPG IMG_1764.JPG IMG_1767.JPG
Lots of tubing to cut and weld. I need at least another 40' of 3/4x.062 for seat frame, dash rail, and door frames.
Kinda cool to step back and see what it will sorta look like.

Watching your cab go together reminds me of the building of my Brother's truck, he built it out of aluminum. Tom,s Truck.jpg

IMG_1770.JPG IMG_1771.JPG Got some time today to shape the tubes for the bottom edge of the cab. Tipped and hammered the cowl sides too. More bending and fitting to do tomorrow maybe.

Not trying to hijack your thread but that is a cool and what appears to be and old workbench. Any information about it? IMG_2350.jpeg

    @pirate
The bench is from costco. I have the matching roller cabinet as well. Not exactly cheap but quite solid.

All the rest of my cabinetry is from a very expensive living room set. Because everyone needs stainglass doors and mood lighting in their shop...

  19. I would rather take the occasional crash on my MTB or skis vs. living sedentary lifestyle and having to tote oxygen around on my mobility scooter at a car show like we see all too often! It may take you a solid year or two on that shoulder. Mine did and now it is better than my "good" one.

Could have fooled me. I thought maybe the workbench was from the 50’s with bolted steel frame and wood drawer fronts. Nevertheless I think it’s cool looking. Thanks

Spent a bunch of time over the last few days correcting the positions of things. Made the door openings longer and not at tall. Fitted the cowl pieces and tacked them in. Waiting on firewall pieces to be done in the molasses.
Tried bending up a dash rail with the pipe squisher, total failure, I should've known better.
    Cowl pieces fit nicely.

One day when I'm rich and famous I will have a sheet metal brake for bending bigger pieces till then I'm bashing shit with hammers.
Did get the curved roof rails made and mocked up.

Now I need to decide if I'm going to do an original style "C" shape or more of a Weezner style space rod cut out out. Not sure yet. IMG_1791.JPG IMG_1792.JPG IMG_1793.JPG

    Space rod style won out!
Took a considerable amount of time to layout and hammer the curve for the door opening today. Only managed to get the driver side done this far. Need to get the passenger this far then stretch and roll the beads on. Ton of work but it's really fun shaping it. Fun pushing my skill level, cheap crap tools and my messed shoulder and wrist. Both sore and a little swollen tonight. IMG_1796.JPG IMG_1797.JPG

I also clean up the vintage Carerra coil overs I got from a neighbor. Not sure what they wer off but have 7" of travel and 1/2" heim joint ends. Quite heavy springs I think but as I'm going to put them at quite an angle and in front of the axle they should work out ok,.

Hammered the second cab side panel today and stretched in prep for bead rolling body lines. Only to figure out my harbour freight roller is too small to do the job.

Have to see if I can use a buddies larger one .

A bunch of time spent with very little visual appeal. So I added pic of my new maple shrinking stump I made.
I had to move the engine up and forward a lot. About 3" forward and an inch up. Now the fan is in the right spot relative to the rad , the exhaust will clear the rails and run inside and the firewall fits with very little mods!
I finally got the front links extended and covered with the thin stainless tube. Needs polished yet.
I still need to figure out a steering system. Might have the find a corvair box. Also need to fit the Chevy spindles to the A axle. That sounds like grinding and milling... IMG_1828.JPG IMG_1831.JPG IMG_1832.JPG
