Well the last couple of days I've been repairing rust on the rear quarters of the coupe, I had the local sheetmetal shop brake some 1.25" 20 gauge strips so I could run them through my shrinker stretcher and repair the areas under the T beads. I ran them up into the quarter windows as there was heavy rust up there also. I didn't complete the quarter window areas though because the beltline is going to be sliced out and replace with new ones. Got my less rusty rear window in also along with the T beads and trunk gutters. From this: To this: To this:
Tedious work, but a great payoff! My old T had rust in the same areas. Must be pretty typical for that body. Really nicely done! I absolutely HAVE to get a shrinker/stretcher now.
Yea it was a pain in the but, but I couldn't just leave it. I would have always known it was there!! Shrinker/Stretcher rule!!
chaddilac, Labour of LOVE? Yes, but NO Shame in that! If you don't get rid of the bloody rust it'll just bleed through the paint.Your workmanship is just outstanding. That ''T'' is goin' to be one GREAT Hot Rod. I wish people would STOP posting pictures of such great ''T''s as it makes me want one!
Lookin killer, you gonna have it on the road in time for the STRAY KAT this May,I'm ready to check it out in person
I'm actually shooting to have it at LSR 09 but obviously without paint and such. I think I could easily make the stray kat 500. We'll see! 8" Chop baby!!
It's a woodward fab unit from ebay... like $175 shipped. Yea HRM2000 I got an update, I just need to take some more pics.
