I have a chance to buy a rough T coupe. Shell only in pieces. I would like a roadster ,any problems cutting the top off ? Bracing might be tough ,I still want the doors to open. Too much trouble?

Well, I was about to suggest you leave the coupe to someone who wants a closed car and take advantage of the well-developed fiberglass roadster industry... but most people on here don't like 'glass, so I'll shut up.

    No problem at all.
That's what SamIyam's Roach Rod is,
and that gold car Von Franco built a clone of.
It will always be a coupe with the top cut off, which makes a very fine, roomier than a roadster, hotrod.
But what it is not is a Ford roadster.
Ford Roadster's had an entirely different body.
You probably knew that already though...

(Ignore the obvious and you will stub your toe on it...As I put a band-aid on my cut little toe...)

  5. Please save the T coupe for somone wanting a T coupe and buy yourself a roadster.

    JH

  6. fuck it... cut the top off it!!!

(it's only a pikle of sheet metal anyway... NOT a cherry body, right?)
    Sam.

  10. Yea... it used to be a '23 T coupe... like this one.

I bought just the rusty panels and spent countless hours forming tube to support the tin in the shape of a roadster.

If you hack the roof off I'd be interested in in the panel where the back window goes. Mine is gone.pm me if you are interested in selling that piece.

Sam, It sure is good to see pictures of your car again. I had a blast watching you build it on the HAMB. It's going to take SOME car to top what you did with some cast off pieces and some labor. I know you did the BFD but isn't it about time for another LOW BUCK project for the street?

Kartbreaker's car is a 26 or 27 T Coupe wth the top removed. Where are you Dusty?

  19. Hey fab32... I'm Flat Ass Broke right now, so a low buck car is going to have to wait! [IMG]

I have a '65 Chevy pickup that I'm doing for a customer... once that is done, I'm going to finish up Mr. Bob, my Triumph project... THEN I would like to tear into my Model A... plans are to make it a highboy on a '32 frame with a rumble seat for the kids. [IMG]

THEN... I have a hopped up banger motor that was my dad's and a rusty '23 roadster (read STEEL body and Turtle deck) that I am going to put together...

That one will be cheap... trust me.

    Take care,
    Sam.

From the back of the door,to the back of the cockpit,is longer on a coupe.

    Yep, very.

The radiator on the RR is a Mustang 3 core radiator... cheap and relatively small.

The coupe's are also wider than the roadsters... I widened mine a bit more than stock in the drivers area and it is now about 2" wider inside than my '30 coupe.

A roadster is a roadster. A coupe with the top cut off is a coupe with the top cut off. One will never be the other.

But a coupe with the top cut off will get you on the cover of Rod & Custom. [IMG]
