DW you're the MAN. I watched your vid on you tube. Rippin the 4 speed at the drags, caught and passed that 55 gasser when the slicks hooked up! That vid is awesome, the screaming noise of horsepower, man it is wild just watching it. Winning drag races in a SuperCharged Model A Coupe with a 4 Speed, that's what keeps Hot Rodding alive.

Blackout my subrails are in good condition, however my body is dis-assembled so the subrails are seperated from the body panels right now.

I dont have any set ideas as to what would be the best depth channel to do, I guess that is part of why I have asked the question.

How do you deal with the cowl firewall area as in a normal situation the chassis runs under the edge or side of the cowl but once channelled, do you cut that cowl portion away or do you narrow the chassis a little?

I am wide open to ideas, info and hearing about what things you would do differently next time.

    Thanks!

Blackout, love your T....very cool indeed. TheFrenz, good luck with your project...do a search on Clark from mid 2006. There are a bunch of pics of the construction of
    " my " T ( Ok....Clark's T ). There are some pretty detailed pics of the build

    R. Gilbert - You have done a great job on that car! I have a 25 Dodge 5w, like a 27 t coupe but longer thru the pass area and shorter on the deck, giving an enhanced phone booth effect. I too am too large for these early cars, at 6'7", and I have been wondering how to chop it and still fit in it. Thanks to your curved top shots now I know. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks, im alsow building seats right now and a dash. The seats are going to be part of the car itself to make more room in side its hard to explain .With the suicide doors, model a style roof and seats im making it will make a lot more room inside the car .I will be posting a thread in the next few days.

Sorry Blackout, I did not realize you assumed I was talking about the pickup (the pickup has a 32 rails that it will sit on) in this thread, I am actually talking about another coupe body that I have which I intend to start a chassis for and just wanted to be sure to it right so I would not have any channelling issues when I get to that part.I have never channelled a body before and I know T's are a tight for space. Thanks, Russ.

Hi Blackout, thanks for the special attention with this.

I will build a new or modify a model A frame, I have plenty of ability just lacking direction on this one.

To be quite honest I would like to replicate the attached pic of a T coupe that was built in TX.

I dont know how much channel it got!

That's Mercury Charlie's old Coupe. You can tell from this pic how much it's channeled. What you can't see is if the frame has been kicked up...

Thanks for that Frenz, I have never seen this car in the flesh and when I thought I might get that chance I heard it got sold and went to CA.

Be interesting to see who else can throw some extra details in about this channel.I know Langy in the UK is building something similar!

Thanks again Frenz that has been a great help, especially since you had pic's of the exact coupe I was planning to model my project on.So the kick up is at each end (cowl/firewall region and out back around the rear end) and nothing or very little under the cab floor!

My favorite T coupe -- originally Joe MacClelland's, don't know who owns it now. Pictures by DRD57, I think.

  23. wow i really like that gold coupe a lot!

hey fiftyv8, i took the easy way out channeling mine. i wanted a 4 inch channel so i build my new subframe on top of the exiting one to be sure everything stayed nice and square for me. then once it was where i wanted it i cut the centers out of the old one and left the sides. im not going to lie its not the cleanest way. but it works really well and if you wanted to clean it up a lot you could attach the new floor to the body where you please and take the original out (i know you said yours isnt attached) but i would put it in first to keep it all perfect. this way worked great for me. sorry i dont have any pictures but i can get some if you want. im 5'10 and with a 6 inch chop and the seat up about 3 inches i have almsot no headroom. keep that in mind too

Thanks Skunk, it is all coming together in my mind now, called getting your head around it, helps reduce errors during the build.

    Yeah, cool pipes Dman.

I hope Mercury Charlies was cool us using his coupe pic's.
Bit of an Icon that T coupe.

Are those repro T size radiators big enough to cool V8's?

cool thread, I just bought a T-coupe from Panhead Pete. Its a little way off yet as I am still building my 32 tudor, but the plan is to do a chop(not sure how much yet) and run it on an A chassis but possibly kinda gasser style with the front end in the air so to speak. I was thinking of running a 40's front end with original axle but not suicide style.
I havent researched this a whole lot but it sounds good in theory.

Here's Stoners T the morning we went to the Pixar Motorama. The headers are too low, but I tacked 'em on for the show anyway. She's just about ready to fire...

How about Speed's gold T coupe from Adelaide? That thing is awesome, any Ozzies have a pic of it? I drove it when I was there last, it really made me want a full race flathead!
