I can tell you it is moving along. There is allot going on over there right now. They have 3 cars they are wrapping up for the World of Wheels. I am building the floor for the T this week and should have it finished and installed by Monday. The chassis and components are all painted and coming back together. Bubba has allot of pictures of all the happenings at the shop and I am sure he will post them up when he catches his breath.
Like 29 Sedanman said we have tons of pictures and some techy stuff once we catch our breath to share with everyone. Today was thrash city at the shop as we had four cars in various stages of completion going on. The gas tank was off the Krylon Special for a repaint, ( Thanks Cliff), the HA/GR was getting lettered ( pullinglines legs, nice pants ? ) and Wally and John was finishing the fuel lines, the Suave roadster was in the final clean up and test drive stage and the Simple T was getting some final assembly as well. Take a look and we will get more pics as time goes on.
A couple shots for stance i had on a disc in my coat pocket form the shop last couple days. Terry and I ( drivin) and Wally ( light blue shirt) checking out the new seat and panels. ( Old tent for material)
I just put a third coat of polyurethane on the floor for the Simple T. Bubba, I think you will be pleased, I came up with an idea that will really set this off, and give the floor a really finished look. You will see come Monday.
Yeah, Its down. I think I regained my "Lefty Loosey - Righty Tighty" re-Certification yesterday afternoon.
The World of Wheels went well and every one really liked the Simple T. Many comments etc. The show was pretty cool with Tom Culbertsons ( Road Rockets) Motorama 62 display. The wow promoter gave Tom his own room that held 70 cars to use and we set up with no ropes stations etc. Just a big ole room full of cool cars. The crowd enjoyed that type of display. Most of the cars were driven to the show, We put our cars in as no-comp vehicles and didnt need to do anything but enjoy the show. The next Simple T project is to do one more ( final i hope) teardown and get it running for the summer rides.
Rather than make another post on this I figured I'd dig this old one up. What's new with this car? Is it detailed and back together? Any chance of a Youtube preimier? This car is sooo friggin' cool!!
The fuel tank is a Snyders Auto Parts new tank. They have a good deal on T and A parts and are great to deal with. Its often cheaper to just use a new tank than deal with the problems a old tank has..
Yes we plan on a couple utube videos this summer just for the hamb. The T is back at the shop and needs one more teardown before installing the new engine. When i started the project i had a really good ( newly rebuilt) T engine with a stipes camshaft, counterweighted crank, new pistons, aluminum head and new trans. I used it in another T ( Bubbas Watermelon Truck) and broke the crankshaft on the last T tour of the year. ( Thats what hopped up T motors do, they break cranks between the 3rd and 4th rod journal) Its not really a discussion of will it break its just when?? My engine guru has it apart and it will be done in two to three weeks. Then we can take her for a spin. My goal all along was to drive it some this summer and then make the trip to the Hundred Car Pile Up in October. I will advise later with some video etc of the car running. Also its way too low right now and i need to raise it up at least a couple inches. Some more pics... We are very pleased with the tent canvas upholstry ( a hamb idea from a post) including the glove box . Rear end is complete and i need to hook up the mastercylinder to the rear discs. Fake quickchange ( i just had one from a trade) looks right at hme as well) Steering is pretty functional and the seat is comfortable. Going to be a cruiser for sure. I also plan on making a short piece for the lower windshield .
OK, we are back on the car. The engine i was going to use for this car was pretty modified and we broke the motor ( broken crankshaft) in another car on a tour. I just today picked up the repaired motor and will get busy gettin it in the T and ready to drive before the end of the month. The motor now makes 31 HP on a dyno. A stock t is 20 and that takes a engine in very good condition. The engine is pictured as ran on the test dyno. Bored .090 with new pistons, rods and crank. A regrind hotter camshaft , bosch distributor, aluminum cylinder head ( raises compression to 6-1) . My engine builder claims Henry wanted black and painted the new aluminum head.. A split langs dual manifold and a high volume aluminum intake witha holley straght thru carb. Trans has new kevlar bands and turbo 400 high gear clutches. We plan on using the engine as is and ten after a few miles adding the two carb intake and header set up. Stay tuned as we will keep ya posted.
