I purchased a 27t sedan last summer and didnt pay enough attention to the scrub lines.Once i got it home and gave it a better going over I realized the front steering arms were a good inch and a half below the wheel rim. This chassis was built by a guy who is well know for his sprint car chassis.Like yourself I didnt see any easy solution and ended up extending the frame and going to the shadow rods style steering behind the radiator. In searching for a solution to this problem I looked at hundreds of cars and Im amazed at how many hot rods including many high end magazine cars are running steering setups with dangerous scrub lines. Now my spring is under the radiator, the axle is just in front of the grille shell and the steering arm runs above the frame and behind the radiator.Lots of other smaller things that needed to happen because of these changes but it seems to be working out.I havnt driven it yet because while i had it apart..........Well you know.

I know exactly :) Glad to see someone else doing much the same thing. Post a few pictures if you can. In trying to figure this out I also saw and realized that if I did get the steering arms low enough to go under the bones and spring that the whole works would be below the bottom of the front wheel.

I know enough to know that scrub line means something ;)
Above the frame behind the rad works, we know it does and it has been done plenty of times previous to us.

Pm me your cell number and I'll send you pics of my set up, I also used Pete and Jakes arms and had to drop them due to my 6" drop axle and spring behind setup.

I received the steering arms, just what the doctor ordered. :)

I put it all together and I will end up applying some heat to them where they bend slightly down to bring the tie rod up about another 1/2".

This is going to be needed to clear my lower rad hose.

I tried the steering lock to lock and it looks very good.

There will be a little tweaking, and the compromise will probably mean needing an electric fan.

Seems that everything on this car is that way.

    Want to learn how to put 10 lbs. into a 5 lb. sack ? , build a T :D steering 002 (2).jpg steering 001 (2).jpg steering 003 (2).jpg

  11. I like it and with the addition of the rest of the sprung weight you will have no worries with cornering.....Cool !! JW

Most guys will not know what it took you to get that T just that little bit lower.
