still looking for a convertible rear window. can't seem to find them on ebay even? what is the proper name for them?

Lol, my build is a smoldering dung heap. Most guys would have chucked that touring front section to the s****pers; very impressed.

What are your plans from here?

 

Been watching for a while and I'm still speechless. THIS is what this site is about.

 

my plans are to box the frame and brace the steering box. I keep getting better ideas as time p***es so I am not going to rush. gas tank is still my biggest concern. looking for a crusty chevelle tank to mock up and see if it suits me before I buy a new one.

been looking on ford barn , thanks muttley, still no luck . I might try to cast my own in aluminium . should be an easy pattern.

Not sure where to start. With as much work as this project presents, you must have great ambition and we can see your vision coming to life. And you call this practice??? Your making some of us jealous. On the need for a rear window frame, I can't imagine that you don't make your own out of steel!!?? If I can do it, I know you can. The pic I'm sending is of a piece of 12ga. I cut out to make a windshield frame for my cabrio. Where's the subscribe ****on? Tim

 

Hi- I have many miles in my T touring with no back window. If you put one in it will trap all the air from the sides and "drum" and blow out. It will also make it very hard and dangerous to see what is going on behind you especially going down the road with all the vibrations, etc.

 

I have heard this before steve . when I did the last top I made it so you can unzip and fold down the rear window.
a steel one would be tough. I picture it with radius corners. gives me something to think about. thanks

 

on another topic . the gas tank I am thinking of using I a 65 chevelle . does anone have any experience with mounting these vertical? the sender will be at the bottom of the tank . will it leak ? normally it sits on top with no pressure?

BCT...... Lebaron Bonney has at least 8-10 different rear window frames I have used their interior products and tops before and they are pro's at it. .....Love da tub............

I swear you could take you body repairs and superimpose them on the one I built! Same issues in all of these things!

 

thanks . i recently bought a chevelle tank and i will need to modify it quite a bit to get it to fit behind the back seat.... also moved the top irons inboard for a sleeker look . it may fold , it may not, but it has a better chance now that the width of each bow is closer to consistant. thanks for lookin

 

Cut 8 " off the bottom of the chevelle tank and i will weld a flat bottom on it. It looks like it was made for the body . The angle is perfect and not an inch of space wasted . The sending unit hole is gone and so is the vent. I just need to make some brackets.

 

BTW. a chevy ii tank seems like a good fit too .smaller and deeper than chevelle.
