I tried asking this question in a Flathead Facebook group, granted a lot more vaguely. I've come to the conclusion that most people in Facebook groups don't actually know what they are talking about and like to give you wrong information. Idk why I even bother on that site, I already knew the HAMB is where the smart guys are SMH.

I have my 1947 ford pickup, I have an 8ba, well an 8rt, Flathead with the crash box heavy duty 4 speed behind it. That transmission needs to he gone through and just simply isn't that great to begin with. It just so happens that a buddy of mine just gave me a T18 out of a bumpside f250 that's already been rebuilt.
Without me getting into the nitty gritty of what I'm actually trying to achieve with the truck I'm trying to figure out what I am going to need for a bellhousing and a clutch to make that transmission actually work in my pile of junk. I've heard the later bellhousings for flatheads actually do use the same bolt pattern as some of the 4 speeds, but I do not think it's the same 4 speed bolt pattern that the trucks use? Maybe somebody can correct me on that. I would also really prefer to keep my original style clutch linkage too just to keep the truck simple, and hopefully easier to maintain further down the road.

Any help is appreciated thank you in advance

I know you said T18, but Ford did use a T98, older brother of the T18, in 1.5 ton Fords from 48-52. Newer versions of the T98 will not work as the bolt holes are on the side of the transmission like “ears” cast into case. The correct T98 has mounting holes right in the case like the T9. I suppose some sort of adaptor could be concocted, though I have not read of anyone doing this with the “incorrect” T98.

It looks like it can be done but it is going to be a rube goldberg mess with what amount to two adapters that are going to cost upwards of 600 dollars. Novak makes and sells an adapter that bolts the T18 to a Chevy bellhousing. with a Dwight Bond style adapter for Chevy trans to Flathead hogshead you could bolt that to your hogshead. As I said, a spendy and rube goldberg mess to be able to use that trans.

Anything is possible with fabrication, but there is no simple bolt together solution. The '53 V8 truck bell (1 year only) has the trans pattern for the later(53-64) t98. But that still won't bolt up the t18. Also the center register and input shaft lengths are likely different. Might be a starting point if you wanted to adapt though...
