Our rear was converted to slide in F100 axles etc, but after 4000 Mls we discovered the machinist had made some errors in tolerances and we had a rear full of metal. So 3 days before a big run we put a stock 3.5 rear in , done 3000 Mls on that now including dirt drags.
Yes you need a torque arm for sure, the front nut on our big tie rod end came loose 9hrs from home and it let us know at ever off throttle or down hill it was bang bang bang, I tried to ignore it but my wife said if you plan to go drag racing tomorrow that needs a to be looked at , simple fix but don't go with out a torque arm.

I see speedway sells two different adapters or package deals. The first kit is just an adapter that says GM manual transmission. The other says T5 adapter....is the adapter the same? But just in kit form for s T5?

Then there's a separate adapter that takes the Chevy clutch fork and pivot ball.

Emphatically yes; transformed the car. Was a 292" blown flatty with all early Ford running gear; replaced the driveline with a WC T5 from a Camaro with an S10 tailshaft, open drive, parallel leaves, 8" with 3.9 gears. A gear for every occasion, and greatly improved shifting. Do it!

Pete, you asked about years to look for so I will chime in. I found that the 88/89 model year S-10 blazer, 2 wheel drive T-5 from a six cylinder 2 wheel drive truck is the piece. Not easy to find since they are sought after. The stick is the farthest forward of any I have heard of so it gives good seat clearance. The trans has a flat mount unlike the T-5 from an IROC or T/A from the same era (those trans sat at an angle for ground and tunnel clearance but look funky and require a machinist with a good mill to build the adapter. If you are uber lucky you can get a tail shaft with a cable drive speedo output, otherwise you have to buy an electronic adapter to hook up your speedo to the T-5's mag speedo output. Or buy a GPS speedo. Hope it helps.
Another good adapter to consider is Sharp/Wilcap at www.wilcap.com

Is this bell housing for a T5?

I see the cross shaft hole, just a little confused on the differences..

Just a heads up. I do T5 s10 tail housing conversions. I take your T5 s10 electronic speedo tail housing and machine it so that it works just like the older ones that have mechanical or cable speedometer drives. PM me for more details.
