Due to space issues in the floor area of the Model A I was considering fabbing up a T5 Cable clutch with a hanging pedal assembly. I have seen them used in the pony car world with a quadrant on top of the pedal and a cable, has anyone set one of these up in a car?
That's what I have in the Ranch Wagon, smooth pedal & works great. I used the quadrant and cable from a 84 Mustang but any aftermarket kit would work.HRP
Had a buddy with a 5o mustang and I know that it is off topic but might help some. The clutch became almost impossible to push in. We put the car up on my lift and took the tranny off then on inspection I found that the Center force clutch plate was not working on about 5 of the fingers. They were stuck. Replaced with an ordinary pressure plate and still works fine.
I had a Model A Tudor Sedan that I put an '85 Mustang 302 and 4 speed in- cable operated clutch. Worked great, hardest thing was routing the cable .I took the stock clutch pedal swing assembly out of he Mustang and re-used it - went together pretty easily. The cable looped up, around and went through the firewall. I would think a T-5 wouldn't be much different.
I have a schematic of that on my home computer, but am away from home at present. I will TRY to remember this tomorrow (Wednesday) and post the diagram to this thread. If you don't see it by Wednesday evening, PM me! Ray
Ron Morris offers this kit.... https://ronmorrisperformance.com/03clutch/index.html ...that can be adapted to most any swinging pedal. I believe he also offers custom-length cables.
my 32 roadster has a t5 with the mustang cable shortened and adapted to a TCI frame mounted under the floor pedal kit. It works great. firewall mount should be easy , quadrant would make life easy on the cable, mine works fine attached with a small heim joint
As promised, here are the pics I have for the pedal mod to use a cable. The pedal assembly in this case is early Mustang, but would be a similar mod for other swing pedals. Ray
