Does anyone know how to install a T5 transmission in a stock 1932 Ford(B engine 4 cyl) without cutting the "K" member? Are there any t5 modification kits availabl? Thanks John
To my knowledge, there isn't any real way to install a T5 in any of the early Ford cars w/o cutting the K-members or X-members. The old 3-spd transmissions were so much shorter than a T5. About the only possible way might be a Jeep 4x4 adaptation to the torque tube. However, you're now into one-off stuff (although Crazy-Daddyo has done the torque tube conversion). The Jeep 4x4 T5 is still longer than an original 3-spd, but not by a huge amount.
Look at this guy's trans mount: http://www.modelengineeringco.com/mec.htm It's not a T-5, but it might work for one. I think he's using a Ford late-model toploader.
The best way is just move the engine and the trans forward enough to clear. A frame extension of 12-15 inches should take care of it. You are asking how one gallon of gas can be put in a one pint container. Think about how big the back of a T5 is and you will see the problem. I put a 57 Chevy trans in my roadster without any mods to the K member but they are really short.
