I am trying to determine if my Mustang T5 Transmission has the short or long input shaft. Do you measure the length from the Trans Case to the end of the Input Shaft or from the Input Shaft Housing "nose" to the end of the Input Shaft? And what are the two lengths?
I don't know the numbers but 95 up have 11/16" longer shaft The 4cyl is about a 1/4 " shorter also but the plot bearing is different Sent from my VS996 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

Looks like I finally found HOW to measure length of Input Shaft..... this one pictured as being the Short one for Ford .
Depending on what year you have, the front input shafts are interchangeable(V8 ones). Just have to make sure they are the same tooth count. A rare one is the cobra T5 with the pocket bearing and they only made that in a "short" version(79-93) one year(93) and then long version in 94-95. They sell the short input shaft new but it is pricey(almost $250-$300).
